Instant Pot Ground Beef Shwarma and Rice combines ground beef and rice with spices to create a new twist on comfort food in your pressure cooker.

Instant Pot Ground Beef Shawarma Rice

Vegetable Oil

onions, chopped

Lean Ground Beef

Water (or broth)

Basmati Rice (rinsed and drained)

cabbage

Shawarma Spice

Kosher Salt

cilantro (for garnish (optional))

Turn your Instant Pot onto Sauté on high. When the display reads HOT, add oil. When the oil is hot and shimmering, add the minced garlic and sauté for 30 seconds.

Add onions and ground beef. Stir while breaking up the ground beef clumps. Don't worry about cooking the beef at this stage, just break it up well. Note, if you have ANYTHING sticking to the bottom of the Instant Pot, pour in 1/4 cup of water and thoroughly deglaze the bottom of your pot.

Add rice, water, cabbage, salt, and shawarma spice.&nbsp;

Cook on High Pressure for 5 minutes, and allow the pressure to release naturally for 10 minutes. Release remaining pressure.

Chicken Shawarma Rice is a Middle Eastern-inspired Filipino recipe that is mix with spiced chicken, yellow rice, raw vegetables, and drizzle with white sauce and hot sauce.

Chicken Shawarma Rice Recipe

Chicken Breast

long grain rice

Turmeric powder

onions

Salt & Black Pepper for Taste

Tablespoon of Olive Oil

Medium Tomatoes, chopped

Preheat the oven in 200 C

In a large bowl, add the spices and yogurt and mix it together with the chicken.

Once the chicken is well marinated, transfer into the oven and let it bake for 30 minutes

While the chicken is baking, start cooking the rice in a separate pot.

Add a tablespoon of olive oil in the pot. Once it is hot, add the uncooked rice. Give a quick stir for few minutes.

In a separate glass, mix turmeric with water before transferring into the pot. Stir to mix.

Add more water in the pot. Let it simmer for 15 to 20 minutes until the water fully evaporate and the rice is fully cook.

If the chicken is done, remove it from the oven and let it cool down. Chopped the chicken into small pieces for later serving.

Add a drop of olive oil in the pan. Once it is hot, add onion and give a quick stir for few minutes or till it become light brown.

Add the yellow rice in the pan and stir to mix. Add salt and black pepper to season the rice.

Serve the spiced yellow rice with raw vegetables and chopped chicken. Drizzle with white sauce and hot sauce (optional).

Shawarma Rice (One Pot)

kg chicken thighs

olive oil (or as needed)

brown onion (roughly chopped)

garlic

cumin seeds

¼ tsp ground turmeric

rice

chicken stock

water

salt

lemon (to serve)

Shawarma sauce (to serve)

olive oil

tbsp coriander

tsp cumin

tsp smoked paprika

cardamom

onion powder

tsp salt

Combine shawarma spices and olive oil in a bowl, then add chicken thighs and turn to coat well in spice paste.

Heat more olive oil in a high-sided pot, then add chicken thighs and cook on each side until just brown (not cooked through) and remove to a plate.

Add more olive oil (if needed) to the same pot, then add chopped onion and fry until soft.

Add cumin seeds, crushed garlic and continue to fry for 30 seconds. Add washed rice, tumeric, and salt then stir to coat.

Then chicken stock and water and ring to a simmer.

Once simmering, add chicken on top of rice then cover with a tight-fitting lid. Turn heat down to very low and cook undisturbed for 15 minutes.

At the end of the 15 minutes, switch the heat off altogether (don&#39;t lift the lid!) and let sit for another 10 minutes.

After the last 10 minutes, remove the chicken and slice (if you like or serve whole). Fluff the rice with a fork and serve along side the chicken with fresh lemon on the side.
