onion,

lb lean ground beef, uncooked

long grain rice, uncooked

celery, chopped

carrots,

tomato soup

water (use tomato soup can)

parsley,

salt and pepper,

Preheat oven to 350F.

In a 9x13 casserole dish, layer onions, potatoes...

In a 9x13 casserole dish, layer onions, potatoes and ground beef. Sprinkle rice over ground beef. Top with celery and carrots. Season with salt and pepper.

In a small bowl, stir together tomato soup...

In a small bowl, stir together tomato soup and water. Pour evenly into casserole dish. Cover with aluminum foil.

Bake for 1 hour 30 minutes. Let cool...

Shipwreck Casserole is a vintage ground beef recipe that comes together easily with layers of hamburger, potato, kidney beans and tomato soup. Zesty taco seasoning, bacon, cheese, and a buttery Corn Flake topping finish off the flavorful dish!

½ lbs. ground beef

onion, diced

garlic,

chili powder

kosher salt,

oregano

cumin

cayenne

kidney beans, drained and rinsed

bacon,

(10.75 oz each) condensed tomato soup, not diluted

cheddar cheese

butter

Preheat oven to 350° F. Grease a 9 x 13-inch baking dish; set aside.

In a large skillet over medium-high heat, cook the beef, onion and garlic until the beef is no longer pink; drain. Stir in the chili powder, salt, oregano, cumin and cayenne.

In the prepared baking dish, layer half of the potatoes to cover the bottom of the pan (overlapping some is fine). Season the potatoes with a little bit of salt and pepper. Top with half of the beef mixture, half of the beans and half of the bacon. Pour one can of soup over top. Repeat the layers once more, starting with potatoes (seasoned with salt and pepper), then beef, beans, bacon and soup.

Cover with foil and bake 1 hour. Remove foil, sprinkle the cheese and buttered Corn Flakes on top, and return to the oven (uncovered) for about 10-15 more minutes (or until the cheese is melted, the topping is golden brown, and the potatoes are tender). Garnish with fresh parsley just before serving.

– 3/4 tsp seasoning salt

white rice (uncooked)

This can be done in a casserole dish in the oven or in the slow cooker. For the crockpot, your vegetables can be sliced THICKER if you are going to cook all day!

Preheat your oven to 350 °F.

Place onions in the bottom of a well greased 9×13 baking dish. Add the potatoes, then the carrots.

Mix the seasoning salt into the ground beef then spread the beef over top of the vegetables then sprinkle with rice.

Mix together the tomato soup and the water then pour over top.

Cover with tin foil.

Cook for two hours, until the vegetables are soft and the rice has cooked.

Oven instructions:

Place onions in the bottom of a well greased slow cooker. Add the potatoes, then the carrots.

Cover with tin foil. ( this is the best way to seal your crockpot) and place the crockpot lid on top.

Cook on low 6-8 hours until the vegetables are soft and the rice has cooked.

C’mon people-stop trying to be stuffy and uptight with your reviews!  Actually, the basis of this recipe is delish!  Season, add or subtract stuff to your family’s taste already.  Easy meal for a weeknight meal.  Add a crunchy salad and some crusty bread…hearty and warms you up after a cold day out and about!  Especially good for the kids who play Fall sports in the northern states!

I didn't have tomato soup so used diced tomatoes and a little extra liquid instead, it still came out delicious. It was like a messy version of shepherds pie, my husband actually said he preferred the texture to that of shepherds pie. And some may cringe at this but ketchup lovers rejoice, it tastes even better with a little ketchup for sweetness.

A friend of mine used to make a version of this years ago (an old Newfoundland recipe). I made it tonight and added tinned corn, garlic and a bit of Chipotle chili powder and it's sooooo amazing! Tastes just like I remember 😊

Sorry to say, this recipe was really bad.  The recipe was followed to a T and we could not eat it.  The combination of tomato soup and carrots was overpowering and not appetizing.

I really wanted to like this. The ease of this recipe was what drew me to it. I was surprised to see there was no seasoning in the recipe other than a miniscule amount of seasoning salt. So, I added worcestershire sauce, garlic salt, and pepper. It wasn't enough. This recipe has good bones, but it needs... flavor... We got it down with a lot of Frank's and a bunch of kimchi. I might try to tweak this to make it enjoyable, but I'm not sure if it is worth my time... or the ingredients. So sorry.

Made over the weekend It was ok not great. Added seasoning and used vegetable broth instead of water. I would skip onions or just 1.  Not sure would make again.
