lbs. (1 kg) fresh Taiwanese-style yellow oil noodles

unsalted butter

Lee Kum Kee brand oyster sauce

sugar

Kraft grated Parmesan cheese

(300 g) shell-on shrimp

olive oil

soy sauce

scallion

salt

Loosen up the fresh noodles with your hands,...

Loosen up the fresh noodles with your hands, make sure every strand of the noodle is loosen up. Transfer the noodles to a colander and place it in the kitchen sink.

Boil a pot of hot water. Pour the hot water over the noodles. This step will rinse the noodles of the oil and slightly cook the noodles. Drain the noodles. Set aside.

Keep the shell on the shrimp and cut a slit on the back where the vein is. Remove the vein. Rinse the shrimp with water, and pat very dry with paper towels, set aside.

Heat up a skillet or wok on medium...

Heat up a skillet or wok on medium heat. Add the butter. Saute the garlic until they start to brown. Add the oyster sauce and sugar. Stir to mix well before adding the noodles into the skillet or wok. Stir continuously with spatula (or a pair of Chinese cooking chopsticks) to mix the noodles with the sauce. Turn off the heat.

In the same wok or skillet on medium heat. Add the olive oil and add the garlic. Quickly saute and add the shrimp, soy sauce and sugar. Keep stirring the shrimp until they are cooked through. Add a pinch of  salt and the scallions. Dish out.

Divide the garlic noodles into four serving bowls. Top the garlic noodles with 4-5 shrimp, serve immediately.

Asian inspired bold-flavored garlic butter noodles tossed in fish sauce, oyster sauce mixture, along with with juicy seared shrimp and green onions. The perfect easy weeknight dinner!

Garlic Noodles with Shrimp

spaghetti

lbs raw shrimp

salted butter

garlic (minced)

tbsp fish sauce

tbsp oyster (flavored) sauce

brown sugar

tsp sesame oil

pasta water

Bring water to boil in a large pot, cook spaghetti noodles accordingly to package instructions.

While noodles cook, heat a large skillet with cooking oil under medium heat. Pat dry defrosted shrimp and sear shrimp for a few minutes on each side until shrimp is fully cooked (turn pink/orange, and curls). Avoid overlapping shrimp when searing - cook in two batches if needed. When shrimp is cooked, remove shrimp promptly from skillet.

Add butter to skillet, followed by minced garlic, fish sauce, oyster sauce, brown sugar, and sesame oil. Stir to combine.

Add 1/4 cup of pasta water to garlic sauce. Stir to combine. Remove skillet from heat.

Drain pasta and add pasta to sauce. Toss pasta in sauce.

Add shrimp, and toss pasta and shrimp in sauce.

Garnish with green onions. Serve and enjoy!

This recipe was delicious!  I added broccoli, peppers and mushrooms, and cooked before the shrimp, as was suggested.  I made a little extra sauce, because of the veggies.  I also added a couple shakes of sriracha, because we like spicy, but the sauce itself had such a great flavor and it made the noodles seem silky (maybe because of the butter?).  This is definitely a keeper recipe!  Thanks!!
