Sloppy Joe is an American diner classic. This recipe features a lean beef mince in a rich and slightly spicy tomato sauce sandwiched between two lightly toasted buns. It's a hearty meal that's full of flavor and won't break the bank!

Sloppy Joe Sliders

tbsp butter

lean beef mince

green bell pepper

onion

garlic

tomato paste

tbsp ketchup

water

tsp yellow mustard

tsp chilli powder

Mince garlic and finely chop bell pepper and onion.

Heat up butter in a skillet over medium heat. Add beef mince and cook until brown. Remove from heat and set aside.

Add garlic, onion and bell pepper to the same skillet and cook for a few minutes until fragrant.

Add the rest of the ingredients (apart from the buns) to skillet and stir well until combined. Cook for 10-15 minutes until it thickens to desired consistency.

Remove meat sauce from heat, and serve immediately over toasted buns.

Small Yellow Onion (diced)

Tablespoon Brown Sugar

Garlic Powder

Salt

Yellow Mustard

Worcestershire Sauce

Hawaiian Rolls or Slider Rolls

Shredded Cheddar Cheese

Butter

Garlic Salt

Sesame Seeds

Add the ground beef and diced onions to a large skillet and heat over medium high heat.  Brown the beef and onions, breaking up the meat into small pieces until the onions are translucent and beef is cooked through (5-7 minutes).

Stir in the ketchup, brown sugar, garlic powder, salt, yellow mustard, Worcestershire sauce and water.

Bring the mixture to a low boil and cook for 4-5 minutes until the mixture has a sloppy Joe consistency.  Then remove the pan from the heat.

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F and spray a 9X13 baking pan with a non-stick cooking spray.

Cut the Hawaiian rolls in half lengthwise and place the bottom of the rolls in the prepared baking dish.  Spread the beef mixture over the bottom of the rolls and top with the shredded cheese.  The top with the other half of the rolls.

Stir together the melted butter and garlic salt.  Brush this mixture over the top of the rolls. Sprinkle the sesame seeds on top.

Cover with aluminum foil and bake for 15-20 minutes.  Then remove the foil and bake for 2-5 minutes to brown the top of the Hawaiian rolls.

Remove from the oven and top with the chopped cilantro.  Let them cool slightly.  Then serve warm with your favorite toppings and enjoy!
