Slow-Cooker Bread

dry yeast

sugar

c. luke-warm water

c. all-purpose flour

olive oil

kosher salt

I made this bread last night with low expectations but boy was I wrong. So easy, so delicious and satisfying. Lukewarm is a bad description for the water because it is such an important factor in making this recipe and proofing the yeast. The water should always be tempted at 105 to 110 & use a digital thermometer in your water. No need to rise the dough ahead because it will rise in the crockpot.  When I removed the bread from the crockpot I salted the top before placing it in the oven. Next time I'm going to add Everything But The Bagel seasoning instead, I bet it would be delicious. I lowered my rack so it wasn't completely under the broiler and watched it like a hawk. It definitely took longer than 3 minutes.

I love this bread!  I have made a couple of changes. I use half the amount of yeast and let the dough rise for 30-45 min in a pre-warmed but turned off (warm setting) slow cooker before turning it on to high for the baking step. The loaf rises to about 6 inches and makes a lovely crumb.  Yum yum!

It turned out great. It rose, the texture was perfect!!! Tasted yummy!!!

Loved this! Made as is and was so good! I didn't have parchment paper so just sprayed crock pot with coconut oil.

I never made bread before by myself. But today I did. I didn’t temp the water. I turned on the tap water and hot and cold so it wasn’t scalding to my wrist. I used parachment paper and folded it down the wall of my crockpot. I didn’t preheat the crockpot. I lined it then I set the ball of dough down in the middle and put the lid on for 2 hours then I check after 2 hours it was done.put in the oven for 3 minutes on broil

I made this for the first time today! Easy to make and came out good! I definitely recommend the broiler to brown the top!

I’ve been experimenting with this recipe using a gluten-free flour mix. The tweaks I made that gave me the best results: increase salt by 1/2 teaspoon; increase oil by 1 tbsp.; add 1 tsp. of flax seed meal, 1 additional teaspoon of water, and one whole egg, beaten. The dough should be wet and sticky; if not, add water 1 tablespoon at a time and mix until you achieve the desired consistency. 
As another reviewer suggested, I preheated the slow cooker and allowed the dough to rise for 45 minutes (instead of the 25 suggested).  I put a linen towel under the lid of the slow cooker for rising and baking. After baking, I browned the loaf under the broiler. The result is a loaf that is heavy for its size, has a coarse crumb, and is delicious eaten warm. When the bread has cooled, I slice it and freeze it for toasting another day.

I made this. It looked great but it was very dry. Any recommendations to make it moist?

We loved this bread! It is a little crumbly and wonder what I can do to decrease the crumbles.

Slow-Cooker Bread = GENIUS!

You’ll think these cherry almond nut clusters come from a fancy confectionary shop, but surprise! They are super easy and made in your slow cooker!

Crock Pot Cherry Almond Clusters

almonds

oz pkg semi-sweet chocolate chips

oz chocolate

oz dried cherries (cut up if large)

oz white candy coating -OR- almond bark

Place almonds in the bottom of a 3.5-4 quart slow cooker.

If using almond bark, cut it up in small chunks about 1-inch.

Layer the chocolate chips, baking chocolate, cherries and candy coating, having the candy coating on top.

Place a layer of paper towels on top of the crock and secure them with the lid.

Cook on low ONLY for 1-1.5 hours. Candy will still appear whole, but if you stir it like in the photo in the post, and everything blends well, it's ready.
