Southern Maple Pecan Pie

Whisk sugar, syrup, eggs, butter, vanilla, and salt together in bowl. Add pecans. Pour into crust. Bake in 400 degree oven for 10 minutes. Reduce heat to 350 degrees and cook approximately 30 – 40 minutes longer until filling is set in center. Top with whipped cream or ice cream  for a wonderful dessert.

Tbsp all purpose flour (to thicken the filling)

make your pie dough ahead of time

Blind bake the crust for 10 minutes then cool

preheat the oven to 350 degrees,

beat the eggs in a large mixing bowl with a whisk or a handheld mixer or in the bowl of a stand mixer.

add the sugar, melted butter, Golden Eagle syrup, flour, vanilla extract, lemon juice, salt, and 6 ounces of the pecans. Mix

Once everything is mixed well, pour the filling into a blind baked pie shell.

coat the pecan halves with a little Golden Eagle syrup and arrange them on top of the pie.

Bake for 45 minutes to 1 hour; the pie filling should be fully baked in the center.  It is like a custard.

Check your crust at 40-45 minutes and if it is getting too brown, cover with foil until the pie is fully baked in the center. A knife inserted should come out clean.

Let the pie cool to set the filling

Top with ice cream or whipped cream or both, if you can take the time.

Southern Pecan Pie + How-To Video

all purpose flour

tbsp butter (cold, unsalted)

tsp apple cider vinegar ((or white vinegar))

water

dark brown sugar

tbsp all purpose flour

bourbon ((optional))

pecans (chopped, toasted)

Add all pastry dough ingredients into food processor (or a bowl using a pastry blender), EXCEPT COLD WATER. Pulse until the dough starts to form and dough is crumbly. Slowly drizzle in the cold water until it dough holds together.

Wrap dough in a sheet of plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least one hour or overnight.

Roll the dough on a floured surface into a 12 to 13 inch circle.

Either roll dough around rolling pin OR gently fold dough into quarters, then lift and transfer to a 9-inch standard  pie plate (not a deep dish) with point of dough in the center of dish (if folded). Unroll or unfold dough and gently press dough in dish, trimming overhang to about 1/2-inch. Fold overhang under edge of pie crust and crimp with fork or fingers. Place in freezer for 20 minutes.

Heat oven 400°F. Line the frozen crust with parchment paper or a lightly buttered piece of aluminum foil (optional). Fill with pie weights or dried beans. Bake on a rimmed baking sheet for 20 minutes.

Carefully remove foil and weights and let cool slightly before filling.

Pastry Crust

In a large bowl, combine eggs, maple syrup, brown sugar, melted butter, flour, bourbon (optional), vanilla, apple cider vinegar and salt. Whisk until smooth.

Add chopped pecans to prepared pie crust and pour filling over pecans. Decorate entire edge of pie filling with remaining 1 cup whole pecans on top of filling. To prevent crimped edges of dough from browning to much I cover edges with foil (optional, see Note).

Bake for 40 to 45 minutes. The pie is done when the edges are set and puffed slightly and the center is slightly firm to the touch but still has some jiggle to it. Cool on a rack. Serve slightly warm or room temperature.

Classic Southern Pecan Pie Recipe

1, 9-inch pie crust (homemade, refrigerated,

corn syrup

butter (unsalted, melted)

larges eggs (beaten)

cinnamon

slat

pecans (roughly chopped, plus pecan halves for decoarting the top (optional))

Preheat your oven to 350°F.

If using frozen pie crust, set it on the counter or prepare your homemade or refrigerated pie crust by placing it in your pie dish and finishing the edges however you like. Set the crust aside while you prepare the filling.

Whisk together the brown sugar and granulated sugar in a medium mixing bowl until combined. Add the corn syrup, melted butter, eggs, vanilla, cinnamon, and salt to the bowl and whisk the ingredients together until well combined.

Pour the chopped pecans into the bowl with the filling and use a silicone spatula to mix the pecans into the filling until completely combined. Pour the filling into the prepared pie crust.

Line the outer edge of the pie with pecans halves for a decorative touch or leave the pie as is. Bake the pecan pie in the preheated oven for 50 to 60 minutes, or until the center is slightly puffed and jiggles slightly when rocked back and forth and the edges are set.

Allow the pie to cool completely before slicing. Enjoy pecan pie chilled or at room temperature.

Preheat oven to 350 degrees.  Add pecans to the unbaked pie shell.

Bake for 55-60 minutes or until the center has just a slight jiggle but the edges are stable and set.  Cool for at least 2 hours before slicing.

Classic Pecan Pie is such a great Southern treat that is incredibly easy and delicious with loads of buttery pecans baked up in a soft filling made with eggs, butter, and sugar. It has a total of eight easy ingredients and if using a frozen or premade crust you can have it in the oven in less than ten minutes. 

Easy Southern Pecan Pie

This Southern Pecan Pie is the best classic pie that you can prepare in no time. Nutty, sweet and oh so buttery, this pie was made to be on your holiday table!

Southern Pecan Pie Recipe

tbsp unsalted Butter (melted)

eggs (beaten and room temperature)

tsp vanilla extract

tsp all purpose flour

9in pie crust

Preheat oven to 375˚F. In a medium sized bowl, whisk together both sugars until combined.

Next whisk in corn syrup, melted butter, beaten eggs and vanilla until mixture is smooth. 

Quickly whisk in flour and pinch of salt until mixture is smooth but somewhat thickened.

Add pecan halves and use a spatula to combine.

Pour pecan filling into pie shell.  If using my pie crust recipe, roll one of the disks out into the pie plate then use a fork to poke holes along the sides and bottom of the pie crust. Line the pie crust with parchment paper. Fill with pie weights, making sure the weights are evenly distributed around the pie dish. Pre-bake the crust for 10 minutes. Carefully remove the parchment paper/pie weights then add the filling.  If you would like, you can brush some egg wash on the outside of the crust as well (just take 1 egg and whisk together with a teaspoon of water).

Bake for 15 minutes then lower temperature to 350˚F and bake 30-40 minutes or until center of pie jiggles only slightly. If it shakes too much, leave it in the oven to bake longer. The pie should be almost stable.  If you find that the crust is browning too quickly, add a pie shield or some foil on the outside halfway through the bake.

Remove pie from oven and allow to cool to room temperature, then serve.

Add the 1-1/2 cups of pecan halves to...

Add the 1-1/2 cups of pecan halves to the top of the cobbler. (Either sprinkle the pecans randomly or place in order).

Bake again for 30 minutes.

Allow the pecan pie cobbler to cool for...

Allow the pecan pie cobbler to cool for at least one hour before serving.

OPTIONAL: Add a scoop of vanilla ice cream...

OPTIONAL: Add a scoop of vanilla ice cream to the top of the warm cobbler.
