This spicy barbecue sauce is for all spicy food lovers! With a healthy dose of heat, this sauce will literally make anything taste good!

Homemade Spicy BBQ Sauce Recipe

olive oil

jalapeno peppers (diced)

onion

red pepper

garlic (chopped)

ketchup

brown sugar

apple cider vinegar

bourbon

Worcestershire sauce

Dijon mustard

tsp smoked paprika

tsp kosher salt

½ tsp black pepper

cayenne pepper

½ tsp ground oregano

tsp cumin

tsp crushed red pepper flakes

Place the olive oil in a saucepot over medium-high heat. Once it is hot, add the red onion, jalapeno peppers, and red bell pepper and sauté the herbs for 3-5 minutes until they begin to soften.

Add the garlic and cook for a minute until it becomes aromatic. Next, add the ketchup, brown sugar, apple cider vinegar, bourbon, Worcestershire sauce, Dijon mustard, paprika, salt, pepper, cayenne pepper, oregano, cumin, and red pepper flakes.

Bring the spicy BBQ sauce to a boil, then decrease the heat to medium-low and gently simmer it for10-15 minutes.

Place the spicy bbq sauce into a blender and puree it until the sauce is smooth and has a thick consistency.

Serve and enjoy!

Spicy BBQ Sauce Recipe

ketchup (32 ounce bottle*)

lemon juice

water

chili powder

ancho chile powder

chipotle chile powder

coarse kosher salt

In a large saucepan or large Dutch oven, stir together the ketchup, brown sugar, onion, lemon juice, water, vinegar, chili powder, chile powders and salt. Heat over medium heat until combined.

Reduce heat to the lowest setting and reduce for 2 hours, stirring every 15 minutes to prevent scalding.

When mixture has reduced by half and deepened in color, remove from heat and use hot or allow to cool before storing.
