Spicy crab salad just like at your favorite sushi restaurant, with just a few ingredients and tons of flavor. Look at you, making your own takeout!

Spicy Crab Salad

imitation crab meat, shredded or chopped

mayonnaise, Japanese-style if you can find it

sriracha, more or less to taste

Combine the crab, mayo, and sriracha in a small bowl.

Taste – add more mayo if you’d like a creamier salad, or more sriracha for spicier. 

Serve with white rice, on sandwiches, with rice cakes, or over a cabbage salad – you can’t go wrong with this one!

Excellent easy recipe that tastes so good. I added a sprinkle of Nanami Togarashi 

I added just a bit of shitaki dashi, freshly made (still hot) unagi &amp; sushi vinegar to mine, just for unami and DANG it was good. I ended up going back to the grocery store to buy MORE imitation crab to make more and ate it dumped straight into my rice bowl☺️

Spicy kani salad is a refreshing, creamy dish made from crab sticks and cucumber. It takes less than 10 minutes to make, is inexpensive, and is both sweet and spicy from the dressing. Add deep fried tempura bits for crunch and tobiko for a pop of texture! You will make this on repeat!

Spicy Kani Salad

Kewpie (Japanese mayonnaise)

mirin

Sriracha

¾ lb kani (imitation crab sticks (about 8 sticks))

½ small cucumber (julienned

Tbsp tobiko (plus more for serving)

Tbsp tempura bits

Combine all ingredients in a small bowl, then whisk to combine. Taste and adjust seasoning, adding more Sriracha if you want more heat, a few drops at a time. Set aside.

To make kani salad dressing

Use fingers or two forks to pull apart and shred crab sticks, then place in a large bowl.

Spoon all except 2 Tbsp of dressing on top of shredded kani, then toss to combine.

Add tobiko and tempura bits, then toss and taste salad. If you want more dressing, add remaining 2 Tbsp. If you want it spicier, add a bit more Sriracha to dressing, whisk to combine, then toss with kani salad.

Place shredded cucumber on a serving plate, then top with spicy kani salad. Add a little extra tobiko and/or tempura bits on top, then serve immediately.
