Hot Honey Recipe (in 1 Minute!)

Place the honey and hot sauce in a microwave-safe container and microwave for 30 seconds, then stir. (Alternatively, heat the mixture for a few minutes over low heat on the stovetop until combined.) Serve warm. Store in a sealed container in the refrigerator for up to 3 months.

Hot Honey Recipe

Add ingredients

Add the honey and chili flakes to a small pot or pan over medium heat.

Warm gently

Gently heat the honey until you see small bubbles forming along the edges of the pan then remove the pan from the heat.

Infuse

Let the honey infuse for 5 minutes. If you&#39;re using the hot sauce or vinegar, stir it into the honey now.

Strain

Optional step: strain the honey through a fine-mesh sieve into a clean glass jar.

Garlic and Chili Infused Honey (Spicy Honey Sauce)

Make sure to sterilize a jar by washing it in boiling soapy water and allowing it to dry completely.

Peel and grate or mince the garlic. If grating, you can do so directly into the jar.

Add the chili and honey in the jar, mix well with a sterilized tool, and then add a lid and allow it to infuse for 4-5 days at room temperature to infuse.If you use raw honey, then it may begin to ferment. In this case, I recommend ‘burping’ the jar daily. To do this, just open the lid to allow any built-up gases to release and close it again. The garlic will also release juices into the honey, making it more liquidy in consistency.

Because of the garlic in the honey, I recommend storing this in the refrigerator and consuming it within 2 weeks. If you don’t include garlic, you can keep the spicy honey in the fridge or a cool, dark cupboard for 3 months. If using fresh chilies, then aim to use it within several weeks and keep it stored in the fridge.Note that if you store the honey in the fridge, it will solidify somewhat, so you’ll need to bring it to room temperature before using it.

Add honey, red pepper flakes, and apple cider vinegar to a small saucepan.

Over medium low heat, bring to a simmer and remove from heat. If time allows, let set for 30-45 minutes before using.

If desired, strain out red pepper flakes for a more mild flavor. Leave them in for a spicier honey.

Hot Honey #1

For a quicker hot honey, combine ½ cup honey with 1 tablespoon hot sauce, such as Frank’s Hot Sauce.

Microwave for 20-30 seconds and stir to combine. Add more hot sauce if desired.

Whipped feta dip with spicy honey

200 g/7 oz feta

100 g/3.5 oz full fat ricotta

g/1.5 oz full fat sour cream

salt + black pepper (to taste)

tbsp honey

olive oil

garlic (finely

lemon juice

tsp crushed red chili flakes

chives (for topping (optional))

tsp za’atar (for topping)

tsp black & white sesame seeds (for topping)

Feta, ricotta and sour cream should be at room temperature.

Add feta, ricotta and sour cream to a food processor. Season with salt and pepper. Blend on high until smooth, about 2-3 minutes. Taste, add salt and pepper.

In a saucepan, heat olive oil over low. Add garlic, sauté until fragrant, about 1 minute. Turn off the heat. Stir in honey, lemon juice and chili flakes. Season with salt and pepper.

Serve the whipped feta drizzled with spicy honey. Top with chives, za’atar, sesame seeds, some extra freshly ground black pepper and chili flakes.

Enjoy with pita chips, naan or on a veggie platter.

Leftovers can be used as a spread or a dressing.

Place a small sauce pot over medium-low heat. Add the honey and crushed red pepper flakes. Stir the honey continuously as it comes to a simmer.

Once the honey starts to simmer, lower the heat if needed to ensure it does not boil. I repeat, DO NOT boil the honey. Allow it to simmer for 2 minutes forming very small bubbles, stirring continuously. Then remove it from the heat.

Stir in the apple cider vinegar and salt. Stir well to dissolve the salt crystals.

Then place a fine mesh sieve over a glass measuring pitcher. Pour the honey into the strainer to remove the red pepper flakes.

Allow the honey to cool, then pour it into storage jars. Keep the honey in a cool dark place for up to several months.

If preferred, you can also leave all or some of the red chili flakes in the honey instead of straining it all out. Just note, if the red pepper flakes are left in the honey it will continue to get hotter over time.

This was absolutely to die for! I keep thinking about the flavors and how I might use this in other recipes. It’s that good!

This was a winning recipe! It was absolutely delicious. Rave reviews as well from guests. The only thing I struggled with is the honey mixture was quite runny and so made the dip a bit soupy. Is there a fix for this? I followed the recipe exactly so I’m not sure what I did wrong.

Have made this dip before but this time after putting into serving dish, and spooning honey mixture, dip turned into a watery mess that would not even grab onto pita chips.  It was like I poured water into the dish.  Have no idea what could have cause this.  Has this happened to anyone else?  Please email me if it has or if you have any suggestions - love this dip!!

I made this and the taste was amazing. But the dip was very “liquidy.”  Then it did not look appealing. I wonder why?  Was it the consistency of the honey or any other ideas?  I do want to make it again with the correction. Thanks
