Shrimp fra diavolo is a spicy, delicious one-pan Italian dish. It&#039;s made with plump shrimp cooked in a flavorful, hearty tomato sauce with generous amounts of garlic, white wine, and fresh parsley. Serve it with your favorite crusty bread, pasta, or rice.

Shrimp Fra Diavolo

shrimp,

Kosher salt

red pepper flakes, (more to your liking)

Extra virgin olive oil

yellow onion, (chopped)

garlic cloves, (minced)

dry white wine

tomato paste

Black pepper

oregano

parsley

Pat the shrimp dry and season with kosher salt and 1 teaspoon of red pepper flakes.

Heat 2 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil in a large skillet. Add the shrimp and cook for 45 seconds to 1 minute over medium heat. Transfer the shrimp and its juices to a plate for now. (If the shrimp is still grey in some parts it is okay, it will finish cooking in the sauce).

In the same skillet, heat another 3 tablespoons extra virgin olive oil over medium-high until shimmering. Reduce the heat to medium then add the onions and garlic. Cook for 5 minutes over medium heat, tossing regularly, until the onions have softened and turned a light golden brown (manage your heat to make sure the garlic does not burn). Add the white wine and cook until reduced by half.

Stir in the diced tomatoes and tomato paste. Season with kosher salt, black pepper, the oregano, and the remaining red pepper flakes. Bring to boil, then lower the heat to medium low and allow the sauce to simmer for 10 minutes or so until thickened.

Return the shrimp to the skillet and nestle it into the sauce. Cook for 1 more  minute or until the shrimp is just warmed through and pink. Finish with fresh parsley. Serve immediately with your favorite crusty bread, pasta, or rice.

Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium high heat. Sauté tomato, ½ onion and 3 garlic cloves for a couple of minutes, then add in dried chili peppers. Sauté for 5-8 minutes. Add ½ cup water, then cook 5 minutes.

Spicy Shrimp with Cauliflower Mash and Garlic Kale

cauliflower,

cornmeal

shredded cheese, like sharp cheddar or havarti

salt

bacon fat (or olive oil)

kalettes OR chopped kale

lb. shrimp (enough

garlic salt, chili powder, cayenne, and/or black pepper

Cauliflower Mash

Heat the olive oil in a large soup pot. Add the cauliflower and garlic. Saute for a minute or two, until the garlic is fragrant. Add the milk and 2 cups broth. Simmer for 10 minutes or until soft. Add the white beans and mash roughly with the back of a large wooden spoon. It will be soupy &#8211; that&#8217;s okay. Stir in the cornmeal and things will start to thicken a bit. Adjust the consistency by adding in the last cup of broth as needed. Stir in the cheese and season to taste.

Kale

Heat the bacon fat in a nonstick skillet over medium low heat. Add the greens and garlic and saute until softened. For the kalettes, I added a little water at the end to sort of steam them to finish them off. Remove kale and wipe out pan with a paper towel.

Shrimp

In the same skillet, add the oil over medium heat. Pat the shrimp dry. Add to the pan and sprinkle with seasonings to taste. Cook for just a few minutes and then add a quick splash of water or broth to the pan (about 2 tablespoons) to pull the browned bits and spices into something of a saucy-coating for the shrimp. It&#8217;s delicious.

Serve

Serve the shrimp and kale over a big pile of cauliflower mash! SO yummy.

Thank you Lindsey for introducing me to the kalette! I've never seen them before. I'm one of those weird people who just love, love, loves brussel sprouts so I'm anxious to try. Going to have to make a Target run!
