A recipe for crisp tender steamed green beans made in the pressure cooker.&nbsp;

Instant Pot Green Beans

green beans (washed, ends trimmed)

water

seasonings

Prepare Pot

Place 1 cup of water into a 6 quart pressure cooker and 1.5 cups into an 8 quart pressure cooker.

Prepare Beans

Place green beans into a steamer basket for the pressure cooker. 

Seal

Place the steamer basket into the Instant Pot and seal the lid closed. 

Pressure Cook

Set to high pressure and manual time of zero minutes. (Or 1 minute on high pressure for softer green beans.)

Release Pressure

Do a quick release of power once time has elapsed. 

Season and Serve

Remove green beans from the pressure cooker, season, and serve as desired.

Lemony Steamed Green Beans

Trim the green beans. Zest the lemon, then juice it.

Place 1 1/2 cups water into a saucepan or pot. If using a steamer basket without a handle, add it to the pot now: the water surface should be right under the basket. Bring the water to a boil.

Once boiling, add the green beans (in the steamer basket, if it has a handle). Steam with the lid on 4 to 5 minutes until just tender, testing with a fork to assess whether it’s done.

Carefully remove the beans to a bowl. Toss with the olive oil, lemon juice, lemon zest, kosher salt, and plenty of fresh ground black pepper.
