Tamarind margarita is a fun version of the famous Mexican cocktail. Tangy, sweet and slightly spicy.

Tamarind Margarita

½ oz tequila

½ oz tamarind concentrate (or 1 oz tamarind paste)

lime juice

¼ oz simple syrup (read notes)

Chamoy salsa (or other type of Mexican hot salsa)

Tajín chili powder (or other type of chili powder)

Place chili powder (Tajín) in a dish and some hot salsa (Chamoy) in another plate.

Wet the rim of your glass into the hot salsa and then dip into the chili powder. Set aside.

Place ice in a shaker.

Pour in tequila, tamarind concentrate, lime juice, and syrup.

Shake until everything is combined.

Pour into prepared glass.

Spicy and Tangy Tamarind Cocktail Recipe

white rum

spiced rum

tamarind juice

sugar

1- inch piece of ginger

water (optional)

lime

cinnamon

In a cocktail shaker, combine tamarind juice, sugar, freshly squeezed lime juice and grated ginger.

Add white rum and spiced rum to the shaker.

Fill the shaker with ice cubes and tightly seal it.

Shake vigorously for about 15-20 seconds to chill the cocktail and infuse the flavors.

Strain the mixture into a cocktail glass filled with ice cubes. Top with soda water, if desired.

Garnish with a slice of lime and a cinnamon stick, if desired. Serve and enjoy responsibly.

The tanginess of the tamarind and the spicy kick tasted great together. This one certainly woke me up!

This yummy cocktail had just the right amount of spice. The tamarind pairs nicely with the rum.
