Baked Vidalia Onions with Cheese, Butter and Herbs

Tennessee Onions

Vidalia onions (or any sweet onion will do)

unsalted butter

salt

Pepper

Cup sharp cheddar cheese

mozzarella Cheese

Parmesan cheese

oregano herbs

Using non-stick cooking spray, prepare a 9x13 baking dish.&nbsp;

Heat over to 350

Slice the Vidalia onions in 1/4 to 1/2 inch slices and separate the rings.&nbsp;

Lay the rings in the prepared baking dish

Sprinkle the onion rings with garlic salt (about 1 tsp), pepper (about 1/2 tsp).

Cut the butter into pats and place around the dish on top of the onions.&nbsp;&nbsp;

Spread the cheddar and mozzarella cheeses on top of the onions and then top with the grated parmesan cheese.

Bake at 350 uncovered for 30 minutes or until bubbly and the cheese has started to brown (browned cheese bits is one of the best parts!)

Remove from the oven, allow to cool for a few minutes, garnish with some fresh herbs (oregano, chives, thyme all work well)&nbsp; and then serve.&nbsp;

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees F (175 degrees C). Spray a 9 x 13-inch baking dish with non-stick cooking spray.

Remove the onion skins and slice the onions into thin slices, about 1/4-inch thick. Separate the sliced rounds into onion rings.

Lay the onions into the prepared baking dish.

Sprinkle the garlic powder, Italian seasonings, salt, and pepper over the onions.

Spread the pats of butter over the onions.

Spread the shredded cheddar cheese over the onions. Next spread the Italian blend cheese and then the parmesan cheese.

Bake for 25-30 minutes or until cheese is melted and golden brown.

Serve the dish warm.

Slice sweet onions into ¼ in thick slices. Seperate the onion rings and spread in a greased 9x13in baking dish.

Sprinkle onion rings with salt, garlic powder, and oregano.

Thinly slice butter and arrange evenly over the onions.

Evenly layer cheddar, mozzarella, and parmesan cheese over the onions.

Bake onions uncovered at 350 degrees for 35-40 minutes. Serve.

This dish for Tennessee Onion is one you will make over and over. It&#039;s  wonderful side dish for any gathering, especially the holidays. It&#039;s also fantastic as a topping for burgers and hotdogs.

Spray a 9 x 13 baking dish with cooking spray.  Peel and thinly slice onions into dish. Sprinkle on garlic powder, salt, black pepper and Italian seasoning.

Add thinly sliced butter pieces over onions. Sprinkle on Parmesan and cheddar cheese. Add parsley flakes.

Bake in preheated 325 degree oven, uncovered for 40 minutes.  Can turn on broiler for a couple minutes if you want it brown on top.

Makes 8 to 10 servings.

Love this recipe!  So easy and good!   Great with burgers or as a side dish.   We did cut down on the amount of cheese to 1 cup each but still was delicious!
