Teriyaki Chicken Bowl is a quick and easy meal full of tender chicken, crunchy veggies, rice and the classic sweet &amp; savory homemade Teriyaki Sauce. This healthy dinner will be a new family favorite! Made in either the Instant Pot or crockpot, this is definitely a keeper!

Teriyaki Chicken Bowl {Quick & Easy!}

chicken breast

soy sauce

water

sugar

tsp ground ginger

tsp minced garlic (dried)

cornstarch

For the Instant Pot: Setting the chicken chunks aside, whisk together remaining ingredients in the liner of the Instant Pot.

Add the chicken chunks to the sauce.

Cook on Manual HIGH for 1 minute, NPR 6 minutes before releasing the pressure manually.

Stir the Instant Pot and let sit for 5 minutes for the sauce to thicken.

Serve over rice with steamed veggies.

For the Stovetop: setting the chicken chunks aside, whisk together the remaining ingredients in a large skillet.

Add the chicken to the skillet and simmer over medium high heat until the chicken is cooked through.

Stir the cornstarch into 3 tbsp of water. Whisk the cornstarch slurry into the skillet to thicken the teriyaki sauce.

How to Make Instant Pot Teriyaki Chicken Bowl- Quick, Easy and Delicious

Homemade Japanese 7 Spice infuses homemade teriyaki sauce to boost the flavors of this healthy teriyaki chicken bowl with edamame.

7 Spice Teriyaki Chicken Rice Bowls

(skinless chicken thighs (about 4 pieces))

kosher salt

mirin

rice vinegar

Japanese 7 spice ((Shichimi Togarashi—recipe below))

sushi rice or brown rice

carrot (thinly shaved)

green onions (thinly shaved)

frozen shelled edamame (thawed)

Sesame seeds

nori ((dried seaweed))

McCormick Gourmet™ Valencia Orange Peel

McCormick ground red pepper

McCormick sesame seed

McCormick ground ginger

McCormick poppy seed

McCormick ground white pepper

Rinse the chicken in water and pat dry with paper towels. Season the chicken lightly with kosher salt and set aside.

Add the soy sauce, sugar and mirin to a small sauce pan. Mix the cornstarch in the water and add to the sauce pan. Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce to simmer. Add the rice vinegar and Japanese 7 spice and cook for 5-10 minutes or until the sauce thickens, stirring occasionally.

Spray a grill pan with cooking spray and bring to medium high heat. Add the chicken thighs but don't crowd the pan. Cook the chicken for 5-7 minutes on each side. Baste each side of the chicken with the 7 spice teriyaki sauce and cook for an additional 2 minutes each side. Remove from the pan, lightly tent with foil and rest for 3-5 minutes. Repeat with the other chicken thighs if needed.

To prepare the bowls, spoon rice into the bottom of the bowl then layer with shredded carrot, shredded green onion and edamame. Slice or chop the chicken thighs and place on top then drizzle with the 7 spice teriyaki sauce. Garnish with sesame seeds.

Process nori in a mini food processor or blender until fine flakes form. Add remaining spices and blend. Store tightly in a covered jar in a cool, dry place.

For the Japanese 7 Spice (Shichimi Togarashi)

These One Pot Teriyaki Chicken Bowls are the EASIEST week-night meal. You throw everything in one pot and let it simmer until finished!

One Pot Teriyaki Chicken Bowls

long grain rice (uncooked)

Kosher salt (to taste)

carrots (chopped)

onion

peas (optional)

broccoli (chopped)

teriyaki sauce (to taste)

Cook

In a large, deep skillet, cook chicken in 3 tablespoons teriyaki sauce on medium-high heat until just white on the outside (doesn&#039;t need to be cooked through). 

Boil

Add remaining ingredients, except broccoli and extra teriyaki sauce, and bring to a boil.

Simmer

Reduce heat and cover with lid. Simmer for about 20 minutes.

Add broccoli, cover again, and simmer an additional 5 minutes or until rice is cooked through.

Serve

Spoon extra teriyaki sauce, to taste, over the rice and serve immediately.

Teriyaki Chicken Bowls

red wine or rice vinegar

brown sugar

stir-fry vegetables (or other cooked vegetables of your choosing)

Cook rice according to instructions on packaging and steam vegetables to desired crispness. Set aside until ready to serve.

Pat chicken dry with paper towels and season with salt and pepper. Heat a tablespoon of olive oil in a large, nonstick skillet over medium heat. When oil is hot, add chicken pieces and cook until no longer pink, turning a few times to brown on all sides.

Meanwhile, in a small bowl whisk together soy sauce, ¼ cup of water or chicken broth, vinegar, brown sugar, garlic, ginger. Whisk in cornstarch until there are no lumps of cornstarch visible.

Once chicken is cooked, pour the sauce into the pan with the chicken and simmer until thickened, stirring constantly, until it thickens into a glaze and coats the chicken.

Remove from heat.

Divide rice and veggies into bowls and top with the teriyaki chicken.

This Teriyaki Chicken Bowl is absolutely Irresist-A-Bowl! Tender juicy chicken, glistening in tasty sauce, alongside Asian coleslaw and creamy avocado. All atop a bed of hot rice. Yum!

4-5 boneless skinless chicken thighs chicken breasts

Mix all the ingredients for teriyaki sauce in a bowl and transfer to a sauce pan. Cook over medium heat and bring it to simmer, stirring continuously.  Once its starts boiling, lower the heat and simmer for 5 minutes. Mix the cornstarch and water and slowly add this slurry to the sauce, stirring constantly, to thicken it. Remove from heat and let it cool.

Toast the sesame seeds for one to two minutes in an ungreased pan over medium low heat. Mix them and the other dressing ingredients in a bowl. Pour dressing over coleslaw and mix well. Store in the refrigerator till ready to assemble the bowl.

Heat oil in a skillet over medium high heat and add chicken. Sear the chicken 3-4 minutes, spoon some sauce onto the chicken and flip. Cook a couple more minutes. Then pour the remaining teriyaki sauce over the chicken. Simmer until chicken is cooked through, flipping a few times and spooning sauce onto the chicken every now and then. Add a little water if the sauce is getting dried out. Once chicken is shiny and glistening, remove to a plate, let cool and slice it into strips.
