Homemade Marinara Sauce

Tablespoons Olive Oil

Heat the olive oil in a saucepan over medium heat. Add the garlic and cook for 1 minute.

Blend the plum tomatoes using an immersion blender, regular blender, or food mill.

Add the tomatoes and seasonings to the pot and stir to combine.

Simmer for 15 minutes or until ready to serve.

Instant Pot Creamy Tomato Basil Pasta

olive oil (30 ml)

water (8 oz, a 8 qt Instant Pot might need 1.5 cups (12 oz))

oz penne pasta (around 2 -2.5 cups penne pasta)

heavy cream (4 oz)

oz cream cheese (at room temperature)

pine nuts (optional)

Press the saute button and then press the adjust button to set saute to "less".&nbsp;

Once it displays hot, add 2 tablespoon olive oil. Add garlic and onion and saute for 4 to 5 minutes until fragrant.

Add the Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes, sugar and stir.

Add 1 cup water (you might need 1.5 cups water for 8 qt IP). Make sure there's nothing at bottom, most probably there won't be as we saute on low heat.

Then add 8 oz penne pasta, a can of diced tomatoes, tomato paste, salt and pepper. Do not stir especially if your Instant Pot model gives the BURN message.

Close the pot with its lid. Press the manual or pressure cook button and cook on high pressure for 4 minutes.  For softer pasta do 6 minutes. Quick release the pressure by manually moving (be careful) the pressure valve from sealing to venting position.

Open the pot and stir everything together. Press the saute button again and use the adjust button to set saute to "less".

Add in the heavy cream and stir.

Add the 2 oz cream cheese and stir. Keep stirring until the cream cheese melts and mixes well with the sauce. Taste test and adjust seasonings at this point.

Then add fresh basil and stir. Also add the pine nuts (if using, optional) and mix.

Serve this creamy tomato basil pasta with more basil or parmesan cheese. Enjoy!

Boil pasta according to instructions on the package (reserve some of the boiled pasta water). To a pan on medium-low heat, add olive oil. Once the oil is hot, add the garlic and onion and saute for 4 to 5 minutes until fragrant. Add the Italian seasoning, red pepper flakes and sugar. Then add can of diced tomatoes, tomato paste, salt and pepper. Stir and cook for 2 minutes. Add in the heavy cream and cream cheese. Mix and let the cream cheese dissolve. Add some of the reserved pasta water to thin out the sauce a little. Let the sauce come to a slight boil and then add the boiled pasta, followed by fresh basil. Adjust consistency of the pasta, you can add more water if needed. Add pine nuts (if using). Taste test and adjust the seasonings. Serve hot!

20 Minute Cherry Tomato and Basil Angel Hair Pasta

Angel Hair Pasta

Garlic Cloves (large, thinly sliced)

Pounds Cherry or Grape Tomatoes

Cup Basil (loosely packed, roughly chopped)

Bring a large pot of water to a rolling boil.

Add in a good handful of salt. Add pasta. Cook al dente or until pasta is slightly undercooked.

Using tongs remove pasta from water into a colander. Reserve cooking liquid.

While pasta is cooking, add garlic and olive oil to a very large skillet and stir to keep from sticking.

Turn the medium heat and cook until garlic becomes soft, about two minutes.

Turn the heat to a medium-high and add tomatoes and salt to the pan. Cook two minutes.

Add 1/2 cup of starchy cooking liquid leftover from pasta. Bring the mixture to a boil and reduce to a simmer for five minutes — the tomatoes should be starting to burst. If they haven’t gently push on them using the back of a wooden spoon. You only want about half to burst.

Add pasta, cook another two minutes.

Turn the heat off, add basil and parmesan cheese.

Toss to coat.

If needed add more starchy pasta water.

Season to taste with salt and pepper and a squeeze of lemon.

Serve with extra grated parmesan cheese.

Oh my goodness!   I just made this tonight, and it will now be a regular for us.   It was so delicious!!  I have been looking for a very simple tomato, basil, pasta dish with plenty of flavor, but not a lot of calories/heavy cream.   I substituted my garden roma tomatoes for the cherry ones.  I also added some spinach and mushrooms for extra veggies.  We just couldn't believe how simple yet incredibly delicious it was!   Thank you.

Dump-and-Bake Creamy Tomato Basil Pasta

(14.5 ounce) can petite diced tomatoes with basil, garlic, and oregano, (drained)

mozzarella cheese ((or grated Italian cheese blend))

Parmesan cheese

basil leaves or other chopped fresh herbs ((such as parsley))

Preheat oven to 425°F. Grease a deep 8-inch or 9-inch square baking dish or spray with nonstick cooking spray; set aside.

In a large bowl, whisk together marinara sauce, Alfredo sauce, chicken broth, pesto, salt, basil, garlic powder, and pepper.

Stir in tomatoes and uncooked pasta.

Transfer mixture to prepared baking dish. Cover tightly with foil and bake until pasta is al dente (almost tender), about 40-45 minutes.

Remove foil and stir the pasta in the dish. Sprinkle mozzarella cheese and Parmesan cheese over top.

Return to the oven and bake, uncovered, for 5-10 more minutes, or until pasta is tender and cheese is melted.

Let the dish stand for about 5 minutes before serving. Sprinkle with fresh basil or other fresh herbs.

Garlic Butter Pasta

Slow-roast the garlic- Put the peeled cloves in a small saucepan and pour in enough olive oil to just submerge them (about ½ cup).- Set the pan over low heat and cook for about 20 minutes, swirling now and then, until the garlic is soft and pale golden. Let it cool for a minute.

Make the compound butter- Scoop the garlic into a blender.- Add the soft butter, ½ tsp salt and a few grinds of pepper. Blend until completely smooth.- Scrape the mixture into a bowl, stir in the tomato paste, parmesan and chopped basil, and adjust seasoning.- Cover and refrigerate until firm enough to scoop (about 30 minutes). You’ll have roughly ¾ cup (12 Tbsp) of flavored butter.

Cook the pasta- Bring a large pot of well-salted water to a rolling boil.- Add the spaghetti and cook until one minute shy of al dente.- Just before draining, ladle out about a cup of the starchy cooking water. Drain the pasta.

Finish the dish- Return the hot pasta to the empty pot over low heat.- Add 4 Tbsp of the chilled garlic-tomato basil butter (that’s 1 Tbsp per 100 g pasta) and a generous splash of the reserved cooking water.- Toss quickly until the butter melts and forms a glossy sauce that coats the noodles, adding more water a little at a time if needed

Serve- Divide the pasta among warm bowls.- Top with extra parmesan, fresh basil leaves and toasted breadcrumbs if you like.

We loved it but still found it to be dry. I used a full cup of water so now I have to figure out what I can add to make it saucer.

This recipe is nice, but it looked a bit bland from the recipe, so i added chili powder, Italian, more salt and pepper, as well as some onion powder too, and that made it very good! sadly I also had to use tub butter, and it didnt solidify really, so if anyones reading this, make sure to use stick butter! Also with the butter problem being said, maybe it was my fault, maybe it was the recipes, but i used all of the garlic butter for my 400 grams of pasta, and the full cup of pasta water, and it just wasnt very wet, so i added a little more tomato paste and butter while it was all in the pot, so just be aware if you like it a little more wet. All in all though great recipe, i loved it! also should mention i am not vegan and used regular butter and parmesean.
