Easy Vegan Apple Crisp. Healthy apple crisp made with coconut oil, maple syrup, juicy apples, and lots of warm spices. Simple, gluten free, and DELICIOUS.

Vegan Apple Crisp

cranberries (optional)

cornstarch

lemon

ginger

nutmeg

rolled oats (gluten free if needed*)

pecans

almond meal**

unsweetened shredded coconut***

salt

coconut oil

maple syrup (or honey)

Place a rack in the center of your oven, then preheat the oven to 350 degrees F. Peel and core the apples, then cut them into 1-inch chunks.

In the bottom of a 9x9-inch baking dish or other 2-quart casserole dish, mix together the apples, cranberries, maple syrup, cornstarch, lemon zest, lemon juice, cinnamon, ginger, and nutmeg. Set aside.

In a medium bowl, prepare the topping: Stir together the oats, nuts, almond meal, coconut, cinnamon, and salt. Drizzle the oil and maple syrup over the top, then use a spatula to combine until the dry ingredients are evenly moistened. Sprinkle the topping over the filling.

Bake the crisp for 45 to 50 minutes, or until the filling is bubbling and the top is golden. Check at the 30-minute mark—if the crisp starts browning too quickly, lightly tent it with foil, then continue baking as directed. Let rest for 5 to 10 minutes. Serve warm, topped with vanilla ice cream or Greek yogurt (dairy free if needed).

I LOVE apple-based treats and this is no exception!! What an amazing recipe! Thank you :)

Very good! I didn't have gala, so I used granny smith apples. If I ever do that again, I'll use more maple syrup or less lemon juice. I also didn't have pumpkin pie spice or anything other than cinnamon and ginger so I used 1/4 tsp ginger in each (the apples and the topping) and 1 tbsp cinnamon for each, too.

Naturally sweet Apple Crisp, but not too sweet - the topping was amazing and this will be our go to Fall dessert from now on! It compliments so many dishes. We topped it with some vanilla ice cream and loved it!!!!

I made this recipe. I used Teff flour instead of oat flour and I used applesauce instead of maple syrup. I used ample pecans and pumpkin seeds in the crumble. The crisp turned out amazing and I want to thank the author for sharing the recipe!!

Absolutely the best apple 'crisp' - I love the moist texture, much more than the drier flake version of other crisps. Maple syrup ALL the way, tastes so much richer than any sugar. After trying many recipes, this is the One! (just baking one in the oven tonight!)

It’s Delicious, and a perfect crisp for my 1 year old too! This brings all the fall feelings and is easy to make. I definitely will be serving this for breakfast this week.

apples apples

cornstarch (or tapioca starch)

gluten-free all-purpose flour almond

brown sugar loosely packed

plant-based butter (1 ½ sticks, melted)

Wash apples and peel, if desired.

Use an apple corer to remove the core and discard.

Quarter the apple for easier handling.

Thinly slice the apples to about 1/8" or 1/4".

Slice the Apples

Place all the apple filling ingredients in a large bowl.

Mix for about 3 minutes until thoroughly combined, allowing the juices from the apples to combine with the brown sugar to coat the entire filling.

Place the filling in an 8.5” x 11" baking dish.

Spread the filling out into an even layer using a spoon.

Make the Filling

Place all the crisp topping ingredients in a medium bowl.

Mix until thoroughly combined.

Dollop on top of the apples. Keep the topping crumbly instead of smoothing it out as an even layer. This gives it more surface area to crisp.

Bake at 350°F for 45 to 50 minutes until the fruit bubbles and the top looks lightly golden.

Let the crisp cool for about 30 minutes before serving so all the juices are set fully. The crisp will continue to set over time.

Make the Topping
