Vegetable Bouillon Powder

nutritional yeast

onion powder

garlic powder

Italian seasoning

poultry seasoning

parsley

thyme

tsp celery salt celery seed

turmeric

tsp sea salt (optional)

Mix all the ingredients together and store in an airtight jar.

This recipe is fantastic! I struggle finding vegetable broth in my area that doesn't contain sugar or oil! IF I can find it at all, it costs nearly $5 a box! And I use a lot of vegetable broth! As soon as I saw the recipe, I jumped up and made some. Took me longer to find a jar than to put it together. You made me so happy and saved me loads of money! I've tried many of your recipes (or close versions) and am so happy to have connected with you!

I have been looking and looking and looking for a dry vegetable bouillon that tastes good and does not have preservatives, high fructose corn syrup or other junk ingredients. This recipe is EXACTLY what I have been looking for!!! Not only does this taste REALLY GOOD, but it is exceedingly simple, uses common pantry items, and has a very long shelf life. 

As soon as I saw this post I ran into my kitchen and whipped some up in three minutes or less. Then I heated up some water and added the powder mix to make a cup of warm broth. OMG!! This is to die for it is so good!!!

I used celery seed instead of celery salt then added extra salt to make up the difference. I did not grind it into a fine powder but think I may do so in the future so that it dissolves more easily into broth. It made such a good tasting cup of broth!!!

Add amazing flavor to your food with this homemade bouillon powder.  You're going to want to add this stuff to EVERYTHING!  Easy to make, super flavorful and much healthier than store bought.  It's naturally vegetarian but tastes just like chicken bouillon powder and can also be used as a chicken broth substitute.  

Homemade Bouillon Powder

salt (I use Himalayan pink salt

oregano

basil

Blend Together

Place all the ingredients into a blender or food processor and blitz until combined and powdery.

Store

Store in a sealed jar or airtight container for up to 1 year.

This is amazing! I had no idea you could use nutritional yeast to make bouillon powder. This is such a great alternative for vegans and I bet it tastes great for the rest of us too.

So interesting! I do buy a plant based "chicken" bouillon for cooking for my vegan family members, but I never would have thought to make it myself. I can't wait to try. It looks so simple, too!

From a culinary perspective - love this. I've been doing a lot of experimenting with meat substitutes (e.g. seitan) and it's really, REALLY great to have plant-based flavour bases.  My faux-chicken has been hit or miss, so a chicken-y bouillon powder is just what I need.

From a food blogging and photography perspective, I LOVE how you shot this.  It's such a pain to make spices/powders/etc look interesting, and you really did a wonderful job here.  Cheers!
