This Waffle Fried Chicken is coated with waffle batter and savory seasonings, then fried to a golden crisp. Brunch will never be the same!

Waffle Fried Chicken

water

tbsp salt

tbsp sugar

lbs chicken wings (separated)

hot sauce

waffle mix

self rising flour

tsp seasoning salt

tsp black pepper

cayenne pepper

Vegetable Oil

Combine all the ingredients for the brine.

Add all the chicken into a refrigerator safe bowl, then pour in the brine.

Refrigerate the chicken overnight.

Next, drain the brine, then pour the hot sauce all over the chicken.

Next season the chicken with salt, pepper, and cayenne pepper.

Sprinkle the waffle mix into a paper or plastic bag, along with the self rising flour.

Coat the chicken with the waffle mix/ and flour mixture.

Let the chicken sit for 10 minutes.

Pour the oil into a large frying pan, and heat over medium heat.

Once the oil is hot, start adding in the chicken.

Be sure not to overcrowd the pan!

Fry each side of the chicken for about 7 minutes, then turn over.

Cook the chicken until it's completely done, and golden brown.

Place the chicken on a paper towel lined plate.

Let cool.

Serve and enjoy!

0:50 - Place washed and brined chicken into a bowl.
1:09 - Drizzle hot sauce over the chicken.
1:45 - Toss the chicken in the hot sauce.
3:00 - Heat the oil.
3:49 - Add self-rising flour to a gallon-sized plastic bag.
4:07 - Add waffle mix to the bag.
4:38 - Add seasoning salt to the bag.
4:58 - Sprinkle in cayenne pepper.
5:02 - Zip the bag closed.
5:05 - Shake the ingredients together.
5:22 - Add the chicken to the bag.
6:00 - Shake the chicken until well coated.
6:18 - Place the chicken in the oil.
6:55 - Fry until cooked through.
7:16 - Remove the chicken from the oil.
7:33 - Let the chicken drain and cool a bit.
7:40 - Transfer the chicken to a serving dish.
7:53 - You can top with a little hot sauce before eating.
8:05 - Dig in!
