On a cold night, a cup of warm mulled wine is soul warming.&nbsp; Bold red wine is simmered and infused with citrus and warm spices, this is a perfect blend of spice &amp; wine.

Easy Mulled Wine | Gluhwein Recipe

½ medium orange

water

Sugar

Cinnamon Stick

Cloves

Star Anise

ml red wine

1½ oz Rum

Peel a medium size orange and save the peels. Pierce the cloves into one or more of the orange peels and set aside. Extract the juice from the orange and keep aside. Optionally, you can strain it to avoid any citrus fibers in the drink.

Turn the instant pot on Saute mode on HIGH. Add sugar and water in the Instant Pot. Bring water to a boil. Stir once to dissolve the sugar.

Reduce the Saute setting to LOW on the Instant Pot. Add orange juice, orange peels, cinnamon, star anise, and the orange peels with cloves in it. Simmer for 2 minutes

Add red wine and let it steam, not boil. Takes between 4-6 minutes, depending on the size of the pot.&nbsp;

Hit Cancel and Turn on 'Keep warm' mode. This will keep the Mulled wine at a nice warm temperature for the evening.&nbsp; &nbsp; Add the rum or grand marnier just before serving.

Just follow the same instructions with a saucepan.&nbsp; &nbsp;Keep the heat on low to make sure that once the wine is added, it does not boil.&nbsp;&nbsp;

No such thing as too much chocolate to chocolate lovers. I used skim milk and truvia, and dark chocolate chips and I'll say yes to this. Accidentally left out the vanilla, but it still tastes great.

Delish . Threw in some marshmallows . Topped w whipped cream and chocolate syrup.   Yummmm

WAYYYYY too much chocolate. For 2 cups of milk you should use half a cup of chocolate chips max. The cocoa powder isn't really necessary either. I added 2 dashes of cinnamon and 1 dash of chile powder or cayenne pepper. I feel bad about giving this one star but nothing about this recipe offers anything unique or even correct on making hot chocolate.

Whole milk is preferable. 

When you're drinking hot cocoa, you're most likely trying to be festive and cozy, not healthy. Go all out with whole milk. Remember, fat = flavor. If you only have skim or low-fat, don't worry. This recipe will still totally work. 

Watch the milk! 

If you walk away as it's coming to a simmer on the stovetop, it will likely boil over. Trust us, this has happened to us too many times to count. 

Use your favorite kind of chocolate. 

We're partial to semi-sweet (60% cocoa) or bittersweet (70%). But if you like your cocoa a little bit sweeter and creamier, feel free to use milk chocolate. We usually use chocolate chips because they're always in our pantry. But if you want to splurge on a nice bar of chocolate, go for it. It'll be worth it!

This Perfect Hot Chocolate Is All You Need This Winter

This caffeine free tea is a lovely alternative to regular black tea or coffee, and has only a handful of ingredients. Perfect as a warming caffeine free breakfast drink or a mid-afternoon treat. It&#039;s vegan, gluten-free and a low histamine recipe.

Roughly chop your ginger, and slice off the rough skin. Add to a pan with the water and bring to a boil. Reduce the heat and then steep the ginger on a very low simmer for 4-5 minutes.

In a sieve placed over a jug (easier than a bowl), press down on the pomegranate seeds to release the juices. If your pomegranate seeds aren&#039;t very juicy whizz in a blender for a few seconds. Discard the seeds in the sieve.

Pour the ginger water through the sieve into the jug with the pomegranate juice. Then pour into your glasses.

oz Mexican chocolate (two 3-ounce discs (See Note 2))

oz piloncillo ((See Note 3))

tsp vanilla extract

kosher salt

cinnamon stick ((See Note 4))

masa harina

Add the milk, Mexican chocolate, piloncillo, vanilla, salt and cinnamon stick to a medium saucepan. Heat over medium heat until the chocolate and sugar are dissolved. Stir frequently, about 3-5 minutes. Discard the cinnamon stick.

In a 4 cup measure, whisk together the warm water and masa harina until smooth. Carefully pour into hot choclate milk mixture, whisking to avoid lumps forming.

Bring to a simmer, reduce heat to low, and continue to cook for 25 minutes until thick, stirring frequently. Test - should coat back of spoon.

Serve with Mexican pastries like Conchas or Marranitos.
