Easy to make homemade alfredo sauce recipe that’s perfect for tossing with fettuccine noodles and chicken or shrimp.

Alfredo Sauce

unsalted butter

garlic

heavy cream

salt

black pepper (as needed for seasoning)

parmesan cheese (or parmigiano reggiano)

nutmeg

Heat a large skillet over medium-low heat. Add butter. Once melted, add garlic and saute until fragrant, 30 to 60 seconds. Do not brown the butter or garlic.

Add the heavy cream, salt, pepper, and stir to combine. Bring the cream to a simmer over medium heat. Cook, frequently stirring, scraping the sides and bottom of the pan to make sure the cream does not curdle.

Reduce the sauce to about 1 cup, 10 to 12 minutes. The consistency should be slightly thickened and be able to coat the back of a spoon.

Turn off the heat and stir in the parmesan cheese and nutmeg. If the sauce is too thick, add water or more cream. Add 1 tablespoon at a time until you reach the desired consistency—season with salt and pepper to taste.

White pasta sauce is rich and creamy without any heavy cream needed. You probably already have the ingredients needed for this easy sauce.

lb Penne Pasta

Butter

Flour

tsp Minced Garlic

Chicken Broth

Milk

Parmesan Cheese

Salt

Cook the pasta to al dente based on the package instructions.

Melt the butter in a sauce pan over medium heat. Add in the minced garlic and cook for 1 minutes.

Whisk in the flour and cook for 1 minute until the mixture has thickened slightly.

Then whisk in the milk and broth, stirring constantly until the sauce starts to boil and thickens.

Then add in the grated parmesan cheese, salt and pepper. Stir until the cheese has melted.

Stir in the pasta and serve immediately.

A quick and creamy white pasta sauce that’s silky, comforting, and endlessly versatile. Ready in 10 minutes, it’s the base recipe for all your favorite creamy pasta dishes.

White Pasta Sauce (Creamy Garlic Parmesan)

dried pasta ((1/2 pound))

butter ((or olive oil))

garlic (very finely diced/minced)

cream

Parmesan (very finely grated with a microplane

lemon juice

Boil your pasta in well salted boiling water, I undercook dried pasta by a minute so it can bubble away in the sauce at the end and not overcook. Reserve a cup of pasta water before draining.

In a large fry pan, heat the butter over a medium heat and gently fry the garlic for a minute, it shouldn&#39;t brown at all. 

Pour in the cream and bring to a very gentle simmer (lower the heat if you need, it should never be boiling).

Add the grated parmesan in 2 or 3 separate lots, mixing and letting it melt in between each addition.

Add the pepper and 1/4 cup of pasta water, mix well and let it very gently simmer for 1 - 2 minutes to thicken slightly.

Add the cooked pasta in, toss well and again, let it gently bubble away for a minute or two. Check for seasoning and add a big pinch of salt if it needs.

Add the lemon juice if using and mix in well. I highly recommend this as it really helps to cut through the richness of the sauce. You could start with 1/2 tablespoon if unsure.

Serve with some extra parmesan and black pepper on top.

I looked at this recipe just for tips on measurements to see if I could improve on what I thought was already a very good “recipe” in my head (eyeballing). These measurements are bang on if you want a really delicious sauce, and I’ll be remembering them going forward! Can’t wait to look at more recipes after following you for so long on IG.

I know this is delicious because Ive been making your base since I first found you! will try it with this slightly different ratio next time! yum! it’s a hit with my 6 year old who snarls at anything but plain pasta these days.

This was so easy and so delicious! Perfect 10 minute comfort food dinner on a cold evening. I added broccoli and chicken.
