Line the tin with a double layer of baking parchment.

Place all the ingredients from Lot 1 into a large mixing bowl and beat until smooth.

Mix Lot 2 ingredients together and add to Lot Stir until well combined.
Step 5
Transfer to the prepared tin. Smooth top.
Step 6
Bake for 4 hours approximately. Check at intervals after 2 ½ hours as ovens vary.
Step 7
Leave cake until cold.
Step 8
Brush with heated jam or honey and cover with marzipan. Leave for 24 hours to set.
Step 9
Brush marzipan with a little alcohol and cover with icing.
Step 10
Decorate as liked.
