Step 1

Fill a bowl or baking dish with the warm water and add the salt. Stir to combine.

Step 2

Add the chicken to the bowl and place in the refrigerator for 1 hour to brine.

Step 3

Remove chicken from the liquid and pat dry.

Step 4

Season the chicken on both sides with the BBQ dry rub.

Step 5

Spritz the air fryer basket with oil and place the chicken in the basket in an even layer.

Step 6

Air fry at 380 degrees for 7 minutes. Brush the BBQ sauce over the chicken, flip, and brush with more sauce.

Step 7

Cook for 3-5 more minutes or until a meat thermometer reaches 165 degrees.

Step 8

Open the air fryer and carefully sprinkle the top of the chicken breasts with the shredded cheese. Close the air fryer basket and let sit, turned off, for 1-2 minutes to melt the cheese.

Step 9

Sprinkle the bacon, tomatoes, and green onions over the top of the chicken and serve.
