Step 1

Preheat oven to 350 degrees. Grease two- 9 inch round cake pans

Step 2

In a bowl, whisk together flour, cocoa powder, baking soda and baking powder. Set aside.

Step 3

In a mixing bowl, beat eggs, sugar and vanilla until fluffy. Add in mayonnaise.

Step 4

Gradually add in flour/coca mixture and hot water. Alternate between the two,beginning and ending with flour mixture.

Step 5

Pour evenly into pans.

Step 6

Bake for 30 minutes or until toothpick inserted comes out clean.Let cakes cool for 10-15 minutes before removing from pans.

Step 7

Cool completely before frosting.

Step 8

Beat butter and vanilla until creamy. On low speed, gradually add in cocoa powder and sugar.

Step 9

Add in half/half until desired consistency is reached.

Step 10

Frost on cooled cake.
