Creamy Peppermint Patties

(8 ounces) cream cheese, softened

peppermint extract

confectioners' sugar

milk chocolate chips

chocolate chips

shortening

These are phenominal. Amazing. Even my chocolate haters love them. I tweaked the recipe a bit to make my life easier though. Instead of  rolling balls, I made three logs, froze them for a few hours. Then I sliced them to my desired thickness and solidly froze the patties. When it came time to coat I used a trick my sister taught me. I took the melted chocolate off the heat source and let it cool down a bit. It made the coating process a snap. I have requests for these every year.

These are really good. I did increase the peppermint to 2.5 tsp. and had to increase the chocolate by another cup. In order for the candy to hold together, I really had to manipulate each pattie. I squeezed each one back and forth in my hands several times then made a ball and rolled it a few times in my hands, then pressed them in between my hands to make the pattie and if they cracked around the edges I just smoothed them with my finger. I then froze them before dipping. They turned out beautiful and by being froze I had no problem dipping them. But, I would suggest having  an extra person to help it does take a while for one person.

These were good.  My kids loved them, which surprised me a little.  Mine seemed a little dry, not creamy like the title says.  Not sure what I did different.  Will make again, though.

These are good, but I always need more chocolate chips and shortening to coat all the wafers.  I also reheat the chocolate if it cools down too much.

I am making these now and could use some advise. Mine seem really dry. I don't think I can shape them. What can I do to make this easier to handle? Add water? milk? Help?

Tasted good and was easy until it cam etime to coat them. Although they had been chilled they still melted once they touched to chocolate. May have to try freezing them.

If you like Peppermint patties, you will love this easy recipe.Please note, I mix the cream cheese and powdered sugar in a mixer, which makes the filling perfect. Also, I double the chocolate for dipping with a little left over for pretzels~

These were soooo goood! They are very simple, but as the other reviewer stated, once you try and dip them in the chocolate, they start to melt...I put them in the freezer for about an hour and then dipped them really fast!

I make these every year at Christmas, sometimes I use cookie cutters to make differnet shapes. Have to agree with the other comments reagrding coating process, I usually freeze before coating but havent really perfected a surefire way yet. Still, these are really yummy and easy to make!

I make this every year...I triple the peppermint extract it calls for.  I also split the batch and do half with green food color and half with red.

These are awesome!  I have been making them for years. My kids love them too.

I make these often for holidays. They can also be frozen. Very easy to prepare and they are delectable!

These are delicious!  I also had to double the chocolate, but had no problems with them falling apart.  I used a fork to dip them.
