This is a quick recipe for beignets which does not require yeast or rolling and cutting. These are delicious served with chocolate sauce and powdered sugar, cinnamon-sugar, honey, or any other topping that you might use for donuts or waffles.

Easy Drop Beignets

all-purpose flour

water

milk

baking powder

white sugar

salt

vegetable oil

Combine flour, water, milk, egg, baking powder, sugar, and salt in a large mixing bowl. Mix until smooth.


Pour oil into a deep skillet or pot and heat over medium-high heat. Drop spoonfuls of batter into the hot oil. Fry, turning once, until they rise to the surface and turn golden brown and puffy, 3 to 5 minutes per batch. Drain on paper towels.


DO NOT USE 2 TBSP OF BAKING SODA......USE 2 TSP OF BAKING SODA.....AND ADD EXTRA TBSP SUGAR......MUCH BETTER.....AND  USE A TABLE SPOON TO DROP IN OIL

There is a LOT of baking powder in these so the finished product after cooking is really bitter. We used both powdered sugar and honey on them which masked the bitter taste. Props for this recipe being easy. The kids made them on their own and enjoyed doing it. Watch them closely while cooking as there's a super fine line between raw and over-cooked. The family enjoyed them and that's all that matters.

This is by far that best and easiest beignet recipe I've ever made. This will be my go to recipe from now on!

It was completely raw I followed the recipe exactly because I wanted and easier desert the instructions were not as helpful as I would have liked.

I made half a batch and used 1 tsp of baking power an 1 TBSP of sugar. Delicious and perfect!

This recipe was easy and so yummy!   Ive made beignets with yeast and I honestly think this one was better and definitely quicker!

My first go at beignets. They tasted pretty good, especially with the raspberry preserve smudged on top. Would have been helpful to have a temperature to make the oil, but a quick search on the interwebs suggested 370f. I found it difficult to keep the temperature at this level; frequent use of a candy thermometer was useful. Still had issues with dough not cooking in the middle on some. Overall delicious. Hard to go wrong.
