This southern favorite is one my family can never get enough of and there are never any leftovers. My grandmother, mother and aunts always made this recipe for family gatherings. Mississippi Mud Pie

all-purpose flour

pecans

butter, softened

chocolate pudding mix

(8 ounces) cream cheese, softened

confectioners' sugar

container (16 ounces) frozen whipped topping, thawed, divided

Optional: Toasted chopped pecans and chocolate curls

Excellent! I made this for my birthday and we absolutely enjoyed it. I followed the recipe exactly, made no changes.

Uncertain why the same same exact recipe keeps being posted as “new,” only renamed multiple times on Taste of Home. Chocolate Delight, 4 Layer Chocolate dessert,  Heavenly Chocolate dessert, Chocolate Pecan Delight, Chocolate Lasagna, Layered Chocolate Lush, Possum Pie, Easy Layered Mud Pie,  Mississippi Mud Pie…. One of my family's  favorite desserts. The name we knew it as was "sex in a pan". It is also good made with walnuts.

Your layers are not correct. Should be pudding on crust followed by cream topping.

I was delighted to see the in my  inbox!  My mother made this for years, but the recipe was lost.  It is the same recipe and I thank you for sending it out.  My family was totally addicted to this pie.  It is excellent!

I’ve made this before and it’s certainly wonderful! But if you’d like to add a little more to the crust I recommend adding in 1 cup of graham cracker crumbs and 1/4 cup of cocoa powder. It adds more of a crumbly chocolatey flavor!

We made this growing up in NC, but with butterscotch pudding (we called it "Butterscotch Dessert"). It was one of my favorite non-chocolate desserts, but I like the chocolate version too!

I made this years ago for my family and family gatherings.  However, my recipe called for "lemon".  (On occasion I would sub in chocolate instead).  The lemon was cool, light and refreshing.  For you lemon lovers out there, give it a try.

I live in the opposite end of the country from Louisiana, but have been making this for years.  We've always known it as Chocolate Yummy.  Normally I tend to not make desserts involving pudding mix and frozen whipped topping, but sometimes you just need to, and children love this.  I'm pretty sure that my mother originally received the recipe from my Texas aunt.
