Pecan Pie Bars

all-purpose flour

confectioners' sugar

butter, softened

(14 ounces) sweetened condensed milk

egg, room temperature

vanilla extract

salt

(8 ounces) milk chocolate English toffee bits

pecans

Absolutely Delicious!  I took them to a gathering of friends - everyone loved them and asked that I bring them next time.  So easy to make!

There were absolutely wonderful and my entire family loved them.  Great balance between nutty and crunchy and not too sweet... Super easy to make.  Made them just like that... without any changes... great recipe as written!

Have made these for years and they are great!  Line the pan with parchment paper so that you can lift them right out of the pan for easy slicing!

Very easy to make and absolutely delicious!  Couldn't find milk chocolate toffee bits, so I used 6 Skor bars that I placed in a large Ziploc and smashed with a meat mallet.  Worked perfectly. Will definitely make again and again!

First time making this recipe and it was absolutely delicious.   The only thing I had to change was the Milk Chocolate Toffee bits.   Couldn't find them so substituted 4 Heath bars.   Put the bars in a plastic bag, took my wooden mallet and went outside and smashed them.  This worked perfectly.   One addition I made was to add an extra 3/4 cup of pecans.  These bars were so deliciously rich and came out perfect.   The bottom tasted like a very rich shortbread .  The second day they tasted just like the first day, only better.   Not sure I could get 4 dozen from these bars, but it didn't matter.   Everyone went back for seconds.    Very easy and I thought they tasted a lot like pecan pie.   This recipe is a keeper and I will keep adding the extra pecans.

I have made these for years after getting them out of a holiday cookie version of the TOH cookbook. Love them! I've used walnuts, almonds, and pecans and they all work great. When I use almonds, I add some chocolate chips after baking to the top and spread thinly once they start to melt. Instant almond toffee bars. My favorite TOH recipe by far!

I want to make these for my husband for Thanksgiving can the Toffee Bits be completely left out. Also what size are the pieces since you get 4 doz. out of a 9x13 dish.

Super easy.  Super yummy!  I think my neighbors will be getting these this year at Christmas time.  :)

I’ve made these many times since First seeing the recipe, and folks LOVE them! I’m lucky to feed hundreds of people regularly, and these are a go-to. I use the crust exactly as written in the recipe but double the topping and use plain toffee bits.

I made this today and it will be a regular on our dessert table and in our Holiday Cookie Gift Tins! Excellent flavor and texture. I “modified” right off the bat by mixing first large bowl ingredients in my food processor and then while par baking, mixed second large bowl ingredients in the same food processor bowl without washing or wiping out! Instead of folding in choc/ toffee bits and chopped pecans, I added Heath candy bars and pecan halves and let processor chop up for me then poured milk, egg, vanilla, candy/nut mixture over and finished baking. Cooled, covered, chilled! Cut 2 hours later into perfect bars!! Delicious! Thanks so much. My Mom Of Croatian descent has baked old world specialties for us our entire lives. This got a raised eyebrow and a smile! So thrilled, really...

These are soooo good. To the person who knocked them, maybe you didnt use some of the ingredients or you used the wrong sized pan, however, you did something wrong. I made these exactly as written and ther are delicious, will make them again and again and FYI There is no relation between me and the baker here.

I made these a few days ago, and they are really good.  I was apprehensive about using the chocolate-coated toffee bits, but you could hardly tell there was chocolate in there.  If you couldn't find the chocolate ones, I think the plain toffee bits would still be good. I found mine at Albertsons.  Walmart and Kroger did not have them.  Pecan pie is my signature dish at Thanksgiving, and I am seriously considering abandoning my pecan pie and making these pecan pie bars instead.  They are THAT good!!  I made it according to the recipe.  My crust never resembled coarse meal, but it started coming together like pie dough and I just smashed it into the bottom of the pan.  I had a little trouble spreading it over the whole pan, but I finally made it work.  These are really easy to make and sooooo good!  I love pecans, but I think other nuts would be good if you prefer walnuts or almonds.  Peanuts might even work.  As someone else said, they are not "messy" like pecan pie, but the crust was a little crumbly.

These are DANGEROUS! I had to take them to work to keep from eating them in one sitting.

I made these for the first time for a super bowl party - actually heard people moaning while eating them. Not only are they easy to make and delicious, but they also freeze exceptionally well. I now keep a batch in the freezer (cut up) at all times.

I love pecan pie, but I love these even more because they are so amazingly simple to make! I made them for a party and they were a big hit. Unfortunately, I didn't have any to bring home to the family afterwards. I will definitely make them again!

I made these this weekend for a cookout and everybody loved them! I added chocolate in the middle to make them "Derby Bars," like you suggested on Facebook Live - great, great tip!

These bars were amazing! I made them for a family reunion and everyone raved about them! We especially liked the addition of the English toffee bits.
