Boil a large pot of salted water.

Add the elbow macaroni and cook it according to the instructions on the package.

Drain the water and set the pasta aside.

Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat.

Add the flour to form a paste and cook for another 1-2 minutes stirring continuously until the mixture turns golden.

Slowly whisk in the milk and heavy cream, making sure there are no lumps.

Continue to cook and whisk until the mixture thickens, which takes about 5-7 minutes.

Reduce the heat to low and mix in the shredded cheddar, mozzarella, and Parmesan cheeses.

Add the garlic powder, onion powder, salt, and pepper.

Stir until the cheeses have melted and the sauce has become smooth and creamy.

Pour the cooked macaroni into the cheese sauce and stir until the pasta is fully covered in sauce.

If you want a classic baked mac and cheese, preheat your oven to 350°F (175°C).

Put the mac and cheese into a baking dish.
