Very good casserole!! Will make again. I bought Krusteaz cornbread mix and used it instead of the biscuit mix. Then we all topped our own with veggies, cheese, salsa or taco sauce

Very good dinner. I also used jiffy corn bread & let everyone put their own toppings. Will definitely make again!!

We loved this, even my picky eater! Like most others, we added our own toppings at the table. The next time I make it I am going to use Jiffy Corn Muffin Mix in place of the biscuit/baking mix. I think that would be a very tasty variation. I can't wait to try it!

We love taco Tuesday, but decided to switch up for a change. I did alter this recipe a little bit because some of the reviews said there was not a lot of flavor. And what is a taco without corn tortillas? So I broke a couple taco shells in half and layered the bottom with those. To the meat mixture, I added a finely chopped small whole jalapeno, and one can of green chilies chopped. After I laid that on to the taco shells, instead of biscuit mix, I used a box of jiffy cornmeal mix. I added a little bit of chili powder, cumin, and onion powder to that. This casserole turned out pretty awesome! I put all the toppings separate so that we could do what we wanted. My granddaughter normally does not like spicy, so I thought it must not have been a very hot jalapeno, because she ate her whole plateful! What I like is that this is so versatile you can make your own changes and call it yours. Thanks, TOH!

This recipe turned out great. The whole family enjoyef thoroughly. I made a couple of changes, I sliced the peppers (1 red and 2 green) in to thin strips and sauteed on medium while cooking the meat then added them along with about a cup of Mexican blend cheese to the meat while still in the pan. Stirred until the cheese was melted, then added the meat to the dish as instucted. All in all, a great success!

Yes, definitely could be cut in half.  I used a 9 x 9 dish.

I added a bit to it but I used the base recipe. After it got done cooking I put hot refried beans and mexican rice on top of it. Then I put the shredded cheese on top and covered it with foil and let it sit for the 5-10 minutes it called for so the cheese could melt. I left off all the topping and let everone place their own toppings. This way I can reheat left overs w/out having to deal with soggy lettuce and hot sour cream. It was really good!

This turned out fabulous!  Gone in 2 days. Will be using this recipe again.

I have making this for years. My kids most requested recipe even as adults. I made a few adds over the year. Add half a can of jalepeno and half a can of green chiles. Sometimes a cup of corn in the batter. Bake and spread a can of refried beans and cook another ten minutes. Add all the toppings and serve. I only use a pound of hamburger and it's awesome!

Great recipe, ofcourse as always I made as the recipe is printed. Not adding and/or taking away from any ingredients. My suggestion to those who do, post your own version of a recipe rather than review a recipe that has been changed completely.

This dish is delicious. Hubby says it's a keeper.  The sour cream and other toppings I placed on the side for everyone to add on to their dish as they wanted.

I thought this was a very good alternative to having regular tacos in tortillas.  Only things I changed was adding black beans to ground beef and I put the cheese on the top to let it melt the last few minutes of baking.

Have made this a couple of times and it was quite tasty. Kind of like taco pie. 

This is my favorite Taste of Home recipe!  I usually add drained Ro-Tel diced tomatoes and chilis to the meat. Once in a while I toss drained chili beans in too.  I generally add a bit more (okay...a lot more) sour cream on top and replace the peppers and onion topping with sliced black olives.  This is a very versatile and simple recipe...pretty hard to mess it up.  And no matter how you choose to make it, you'll love it.

We had this delicious casserole for dinner tonight. I halved the recipe for the two of us and used some taco meat I had left over from tacos the other night. Perfect. We loved this recipe and it is so quick and easy. I may sub chopped green chilies for the green pepper next time. Lots of possibilities. Volunteer Field Editor

This is just one of those wonderful recipes that you can play around with--add or subtract whatever you desire. I added olives and guacamole. Just read the reviews and you get an idea of the many possible variations. Love these kind of recipes!

Very good!  Added cheese to the mix for more flavor.   Good idea to leave off toppings in case you have leftovers, this is what I did.  Add or change the toppings you serve with it, whatever your preference.
