Step 1
Heat olive oil in a large tagine or heavy pot over medium heat. Add the sliced onion and cook until caramelized, about 10 minutes.

Stir in the minced garlic and cook for an additional 1-2 minutes.

Add the beef cubes to the pot and brown on all sides.

Sprinkle in the spices (cumin, cinnamon, paprika, turmeric, salt, and pepper) and mix well.

Pour in the beef broth and bring to a simmer.

Cover and cook on low heat for about 1 hour, until the beef is tender.

Stir in the raisins and cook for an additional 10 minutes.
