Step 1
Combine all ingredients except the oil in a large bowl, then use your hands to form the turkey mixture into four large patties.
Step 2
Meanwhile, heat the oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat for about a minute, then swirl to coat the bottom of the pan. Add the turkey burger patties.
Step 3
Continue cooking over medium-high heat for about 7 minutes a side, or until burgers are nicely browned and cooked through. (I used a cast iron skillet here to get a nice char on the outside of the burgers, but you can use a regular skillet as well.)
Step 4
I served my burgers on buns with sliced avocado and cheddar to continue the Southwest theme, but you can mix things up with your own favorite burger toppings of choice.
