Put cucumber slices in a clean pickling container.

Step 2

Sprinkle salt over cucumbers; add 2 quarts water; let stand 2-3 hours.

Drain. Rinse and drain thoroughly. Discard liquid.

Combine 3 cups vinegar and 3 cups water; bring to a boil.

Step 5

Add cucumbers, simmer. Cucumbers should not become soft.

Step 6

Drain well; discarding liquid.

Step 7

Combine 2 cups vinegar and 1 cup water with remaining ingredients; simmer 10 minutes.

Step 8

Add drained cucumbers. Bring to a boil.

Step 9

Pack hot pickles and liquid into hot jars, leaving 1/4 inch head space.

Step 10

Remove air bubbles. Adjust 2 piece caps.

Step 11

Process 10 minutes in boiling water canner.

Step 12

Yield 3 pints.
