Step 1

Rinse and pat dry salmon filets. In a one-cup measure or a small mixing bowl, combine marinade ingredients. Mix until combined. Pour half a cup of the marinade into a large zip-top bag. Place salmon fillets into the marinade and marinate for at least one hour, or overnight (reserve the remaining marinade).

Step 2

Preheat oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (180 degrees Celsius).

Step 3

Transfer salmon and marinade into a 9- x 13-inch (20- x 30-centimeter) pan. Lightly season salmon with salt, paprika, onion powder, and garlic powder. Baste salmon with marinade. Bake 10 minutes. Baste salmon again and bake for an additional 10 minutes. Remove from oven and baste once more.

Step 4

Prepare lo mein noodles according to package instructions.

Step 5

Dissolve cornstarch in water and add to remaining marinade. Heat mixture in microwave for two minutes, stirring every 20 seconds until thickened.

Step 6

Stir most of the thickened marinade into the lo mein noodles, reserving about three tablespoons to drizzle over the salmon filets.

Step 7

Place a small mound of lo mein on your plate. Gently place a salmon fillet over the lo mein bed. Sprinkle salmon with black sesame seeds if you desire and top with sliced chives. Drizzle salmon with reserved marinade.
