Magic cookie bars (also called 7 layer bars or hello dolly bars) are sweet chewy heaven piled high with seven layers of sweet treats. 

Magic Cookie Bars

graham cracker crumbs

butter (salted

sweetened condensed milk (14 ounces)

chocolate chips

butterscotch chips

coconut flakes

walnuts

Optional, reserve 1 - 2 tablespoons of sweetened condensed milk.

Mix together graham cracker crumbs and melted butter, and press firmly onto the bottom of a parchment lined or greased 9x13 inch casserole dish.

Pour the can of sweetened condensed milk evenly all over the graham cracker crumbs.

Layer the chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, coconut flakes and walnuts and press down firmly. Drizzle remaining sweetened condensed milk over top, if desired.

Bake at 350F for 25 minutes, until coconut has started to turn a golden brown.  Allow to cool completely before cutting.

Bake for about 25 to 30 minutes (I baked 27), or until lightly golden brown around edges and barely bubbling in the center, and the center is mostly set. Keep an extremely close eye on bars in the final 10 minutes of baking because coconut can go from raw-looking to burnt in one minute. I recommend tenting pan (cover pan with a sheet of foil) in the last 5 minutes of baking to help prevent coconut from burning.

Greek yogurt, egg whites, unsweetened coconut and fat-free sweetened condensed milk make these caramel bars a lighter version of the classic 7 layer bars.

egg whites (at room temperature)

pecans

caramel candy squares

fat-free sweetened condensed milk

Preheat the oven to 350°F, and coat a 9-inch square pan with nonstick cooking spray.

Break the graham crackers into pieces, and add to a food processor or blender and pulse into fine crumbs. Transfer the crumbs to a bowl, and mix in the egg whites until fully incorporated. Press the mixture into the bottom of the prepared pan.

Sprinkle the coconut, miniature chocolate chips, and pecans over the graham cracker crust in the order listed.

In a small bowl, melt the caramel candy squares in the microwave for 30 seconds or until melted and drizzle over the bars.

In a small bowl, stir together the sweetened condensed milk, Greek yogurt, and sugar or sugar substitute. Evenly drizzle the milk mixture over the toppings.

Bake at 350°F for 18-20 minutes. Cool completely to room temperature, and refrigerate for at least 3 hours before slicing into squares.

Also known as magic cookie bars, these seven layer bars are simply sublime. They're loaded with flavor and texture, and they're beyond easy to make.

Easy Seven Layer Bars Recipe

unsalted butter

-1/2 cups Graham Cracker crumbs

chopped nuts (walnuts, pecans, macadamia, etc.)

sweetened condensed milk

Preheat the oven to 350 degrees Fahrenheit (175°C), and grease a 13 x 9 inches baking dish with butter or cooking spray.

Melt the butter and mix in the cracker crumbs with a fork. Then pour the crust into the dish, spread it over the bottom, and gently press in place.

Alternatively, pour the melted butter into the baking dish and swirl it around, so it covers the whole base and sides. Then, sprinkle the cracker crumbs over the butter.

Next, add a layer of chocolate chips, butterscotch chips, and chopped nuts (in that order).

Pour the condensed milk over the top.

Top the dish with the shredded coconut.

Bake for approximately 25 minutes until the coconut is golden brown.

Remove the baking dish from the oven and leave it to cool on the counter.

When cold, cut them into portions and enjoy!

Crush graham crackers in the sleeve, using a food processor, or rolling pin. Mix with melted butter and pour mixture into a greased 8’’ square baking dish.

Sprinkle crust with chocolate chips, then butterscotch chips, chopped heath bars, nuts and coconut. Pour sweetened condensed evenly over the top.

Bake at 350 degrees F for 30-35 minutes. Allow to cool before serving. (I like to refrigerate mine for a few hours before serving so they are easier to get out of the pan, to cut and hold the “layers” better.)

A retro 1960s square, the Hello Dolly Square is an ooey-gooey, easy-to-make, irresistible treat packed with baking chips, pecans, and coconut smothered under a cover of sweetened condensed milk.

sea salt caramel baking chips

– 300 ml can sweetened condensed milk

Position oven rack in center of oven and preheat oven to 350°F.

Line 9” square baking pan with tinfoil, leaving enough foil overhang on sides to grip and lift baked square from pan for easy cutting. Spray lightly with cooking spray, ensuring the sides of the pan are sprayed.

Pour melted butter into pan.  Sprinkle evenly with graham wafer crumbs. Do not stir.  Add a layer of coconut followed by a layer of chocolate chips.  Sprinkle chopped pecans evenly over the chocolate chips.  Add layers of butterscotch and sea salt caramel baking chips followed by ½ cup of coconut.

Pour the can of sweetened condensed milk evenly over the square ingredients, ensuring the entire square ingredients are completely covered.

Bake for 28-30 minutes, or just until square is set.  Transfer pan to wire cooling rack and let square cool completely (in pan) to room temperature then refrigerate for approximately 30 minutes to firm up for easier cutting.  Lift square from the pan using the excess foil.  Peel away foil and cut square into small pieces. Keep square refrigerated or freeze in an airtight freezer container for longer storage.
