heavy cream or whole milk

tsp vanilla extract

Melt butter in large skillet over medium heat and add diced apples, sugar, brown sugar, and cinnamon.  Cook for about 20 minutes, stirring occasionally, until apples are soft.  Make a slurry with cornstarch and water and add to the apple mixture.  Cook for a few more minutes until thickened.

Remove from the heat and allow to cool completely.  The apple mixture can be refrigerated for a few days before using.

Cut the dough in half and refrigerate the other half until ready.  Roll half the dough into a 10 by 10-inch square and then cut that into four equal squares that are 5 by 5 inches in size.

Spoon about 2 tablespoons of the filling a little over the center of each square.  Brush the borders of each square with the egg wash and fold the squares in half to meet the other side.  Press gently to seal.  Take a fork dipped in flour and crimp all along the two edges that were folded over.

Place the turnovers on a parchment-lined baking sheet and chill them for at least 30 minutes while you work on the other half.

Preheat the oven to 400° F.  Brush the turnovers with the egg wash and vent on the tops of each with a sharp knife.

Bake for 20-25 minutes, or until golden brown.

Mix all glaze ingredients and drizzle over the turnovers.  Serve warm or at room temperature.

Place it in a microwavable bowl, and sprinkle with the cinnamon and sweetener.

Add a tablespoon of water, cover with cling film and cook in the microwave on high for 3 minutes or until the apple starts to soften, but still has a bit of a bite.

Take the wrap and cut it down the middle.

Place 90g of the cooked apple on one side of each half (being careful not to get too close to the edges).

Brush the exposed parts of the wrap with the beaten egg, and fold each half in half.

Crimp the edges using the back of a fork to enclose the apple.

Place the two parcels on a baking tray sprayed with low calorie cooking spray, then brush the outside with the beaten egg.

Sprinkle with a little sweetener, and bake for 10 minutes at 200°C  or until they are golden brown.

Apple Turnovers

Preheat oven to 400F (205C)

Break your chilled pie dough into two pieces that are roughly the same size.

Transfer to a lightly floured surface and roll one piece into a rectangle about 1/8" thick. &nbsp;

Using a pizza cutter (or a knife and a straight-edge, such as a clean ruler), neatly cut dough int 4.5" squares and transfer to a parchment-paper-lined baking sheet (you will need to gather the scraps and re-roll them out to make all 10 turnovers).

Place squares on a parchment paper lined cookie sheet and return to the refrigerator. &nbsp;

Repeat rolling and cutting with your second half of pie dough.

Prepare your apple filling by combining your apples, brown sugar, and butter in a medium-sized saucepan over medium-low heat. &nbsp;

Stir frequently until butter is melted, then add cornstarch, cinnamon, vanilla extract, and salt. &nbsp;

Increase heat to medium and bring to a simmer and simmer for 5 minutes, stirring occasionally.

Remove from heat and allow mixture to cool (at least 15-20 minutes) before proceeding.

Prepare egg wash by combining egg and teaspoon of water in a small dish and stir/scramble well.

Lightly brush the insides of your pastry squares with egg wash.

Portion about 2-3 Tablespoons of apple pie filling into the center of each square. &nbsp;Gently fold over one corner to the other to envelope the apple filling. Use the tines of a fork to press and seal the turnovers.&nbsp;

Brush the outside lightly with egg wash, cut small slits across to vent, and sprinkle with coarse sugar, if desired.

Bake on 400F (205C) oven for 25 minutes, until pastry is beginning to turn golden brown.

Allow to cool before drizzling with glaze.

Whisk together powdered sugar, 2 teaspoons of milk, and vanilla extract in a small bowl. If mixture is too stiff to drizzle, add more milk, another teaspoon at a time, until a fluid consistency is reached.

Drizzle over slightly cooled turnovers. &nbsp;Enjoy while still warm or allow glaze to harden before enjoying.

Vanilla Glaze

These easy and delicious apple turnovers come together in a snap and are guaranteed to please!

Frozen Puff Pastry (1 package)

apples (4 medium)

brown sugar

butter

lemon juice

tsp corn starch

sugar

Set oven to 400F and line two baking sheets with parchment paper. Peel your apples then cut the flesh from the core and dice into smaller pieces about 1/4 inch thick.

Melt butter in a large pan over medium heat then add the apples and cook for a few minutes while stirring frequently. Add the brown sugar, salt, cinnamon, and lemon juice. Mix to coat apple pieces and cook for about 5 minutes or until the apples are softened and have released juice then reduce heat to low.

Sprinkle in the corn starch in and stir until the juice thickens up a bit then transfer to a bowl and refrigerate to chill.

Roll your thawed puff pastry out on a lightly floured surface into a 12x12 inch square then cut four into equal squares then repeat the process for the other sheet.

Place a few tablespoons of filling in each square. You should Imagine a diagonal line running across the square and add the filling to one side of that leaving a half inch border.

Mix an egg with a tablespoon of water, milk, or cream then brush it over the edge of the square. Fold the puff pastry onto itself then use a fork to seal the edge. Brush the top with egg wash and sprinkle with sugar. I use sanding sugar but you can use turbinado or regular granulated sugar.

Bake at 400F for about 18-20 minutes or until golden and puffed.

Make a simple icing by combining powdered sugar with a tablespoon of water and a teaspoon of vanilla in a bowl and mixing until smooth. You can add a bit more water if the consistency needs to be thinned out. Drizzle over the warm turnovers and enjoy!

Roll out the crescent rolls flat and separate into the four squares. Push the seams together so there is no separation in the square (or separate them to make triangle apple turnovers).

Spoon the apple pie filling onto one side of the turnover.

Using a fork, press the edges together.

Place the apple turnovers on a greased baking sheet (or a sheet lined with parchment) and bake for 18-20 minutes, or until brown.

Let cool.

Vegan Apple Turnovers

(48 g) lightly packed brown sugar

Prep: Remove the puff pastry from the freezer and thaw according to package directions. Preheat the oven to 400F and set a lined baking sheet aside.

Cook the Apples: Melt the butter over medium heat in a medium pan. Add the apples to the pan along with the brown sugar, water, cinnamon, ginger, cardamom, nutmeg, and salt. Mix well until the apples are evenly coated in spice. Sauté for 7 to 10 minutes, stirring occasionally, until the apples are tender and there is liquid on the bottom of the pan.

Thicken the Filling: dissolve the cornstarch in water, add to the apples, and stir rapidly. Remove the apples from the heat and set aside while you prepare the puff pastry.

Cut the Puff: Lightly dust a cutting board or large surface with half of the flour, then place one sheet of puff pastry on top. Use a rolling pin to roll the pastry out into an 11″ by 11″ square, then cut into four equal squares.

Fill the Pastry: Fill one half of each pastry square with the cooked apple mixture, leaving a 1/2″ border on the edges. Brush the edges of the pastry with milk, then fold the other half of the pastry over to form a triangle; use a fork to pinch the edges together, then transfer to the baking sheet. Repeat steps 4 and 5 until you have 8 turnovers.

Bake: Cut 1-2 small slits in the top of each pastry with a knife to allow for ventilation, then brush the tops of each pastry with the remaining plant-based milk. Bake in the middle rack of the oven for 20 to 22 minutes, until the pasty is golden brown. Remove from the oven and let cool slightly on the baking sheet.

Make the Glaze (optional): Add the powdered sugar to a medium bowl and add 1 tablespoon of milk; mix well. If the mixture is too thick, add more milk in 1/2 teaspoon increments, until the glaze reaches your desired thickness.

Glaze &amp; Serve: Drizzle the glaze over the turnovers, then serve warm; leftovers will keep at room temperature for up to 3 days or can be frozen for up to 2 months. Reheat leftovers in the oven or toaster oven.

Easy Apple Turnovers from scratch

300 g All-purpose flour (2 and 1/4 cups +1 tbsp)

Salt

Unsalted butter (3/4 cup

g Sugar (2 tbsp)

120-135 ml Water (8-9 tbsp)

Apples ((peeled, cored and diced small))

g Granulated sugar (1/4 cup)

tsp Ground cinnamon

tbsp Corn flour

60 ml Water (1/4 cup)

Lemon juice (optional)

Milk

g Sugar (1 tbsp for sprinkling on top)

In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar and salt. Add the cold butter and, toss it into the flour mixture and try to incorporate the butter into the flour.Add cold water, little by little into the  flour mixture and, using a fork, gently toss and stir together until large lumps form and all of the flour has been moistened. Using your hands, pat the dough into a ball and wrap with plastic wrap or parchment paper. Refrigerate for 30 minutes or more until the dough is firm

Prepare the pastry dough

In a small pan, add the sugar, cinnamon powder,salt,corn flour and water and bring it to boil .When it get thickened,stop cooking and take it out from the stove.

Prepare the apple filling

Line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

On a lightly floured work surface, roll out one half of the dough to ⅛-inch thickness. Cut the pie dough sheet into circles using a cookie cutter or into long rectangles  or squares using a pizza cutter.Spoon about 1 to 2 tablespoons filling onto each dough sheet and fold it in half so the other side comes down over the filling. Seal the hand pie, and make a decorative edge by pressing the edges of the dough together with the tines of a fork.Transfer them to the parchment-lined baking sheet.

Freeze for 20 minutes or Refrigerate the assembled hand pies for 30 minutes.

Preheat oven to 400 degrees F

Assemble the apple turnovers

In a small bowl, whisk together an egg and milk for the egg wash. Remove the chilled hand pies from the refrigerator, and lightly brush with the egg wash. Using a sharp knife, cut a few small slits on the top of each hand pie, then sprinkle generously with coarse sugar.

Bake @400 F for 10 minutes and then reduce the temperature to 375 F and bake for another 18-20 minutes or Bake until the hand pies are golden brown, the baking time vary according to how thick we rolled the dough.

Remove the pies from the oven, and let stand to cool slightly before serving.Enjoy!

These delicious apple turnovers with phyllo dough are crunchy, flaky, buttery, and filled with warm, tender apples!

Apple Turnovers With Phyllo Dough

(15 grams) unsalted butter

vanilla

phyllo

½ cup (113 grams) unsalted butter

In a medium saucepan, combine the apples, brown sugar, cinnamon, and vanilla.

Cook over medium-low heat, slightly covered and stirring every minute, until the apples are tender. This takes between 7-10 minutes, depending on your heat source.

Mix the cornstarch and the water together in a small bowl or cup to make a slurry.

Add the slurry to the apples and cook the filling until it thickens, about a minute. Take it off the heat and set it aside to cool a bit before assembling the turnovers.

Make the filling

Preheat the oven to 375℉ / 190℃. Line a baking sheet with parchment paper. Set it aside.

Melt the ½ cup (113g) butter.

Unroll the phyllo dough and lay one sheet of phyllo dough vertically on a flat surface (&amp; make sure to keep the remaining phyllo sheets covered with a damp kitchen towel so they don&#39;t dry out).

Drizzle the sheet with melted butter all over and quickly brush the edges. (You don&#39;t have to thoroughly brush the surface, just drizzle it.)

Fold the sheet in half vertically (longways). Then drizzle with a little more melted butter, and fold it in half again.

Starting at the bottom, add about 1 ½ tablespoons of apple filling, one inch inside from the edges of the pointed corner (see picture tutorial in post for details).

Fold the bottom edge of the phyllo sheet over the filling to form a triangle.

Then fold the entire left side to seal the filling. If the apple filling is too close to the edge and you can&#39;t fold over the left edge, just nudge the filling to the right with your fingers and then fold the left side of the phyllo dough (see picture tutorial in post for details).

Then fold the phyllo sheet, diagonally, flag-style, to form a triangle all the way to the top when you reach the end. Then place it on the prepared baking sheet.

Repeat the process for the remaining sheets and filling. Brush the tops with the remaining melted butter and bake the turnovers for about 20 minutes, or until they are golden brown (since ovens vary, check them after about 15 minutes, so they don&#39;t burn.)

When done, let the turnovers cool for a few minutes before serving.
