Best Oven Baked BBQ Chicken

tomato sauce

Preheat oven to 400 degrees. Lightly grease a baking sheet or 9x13 pan.

In a blender combine tomato sauce, molasses, worcestershire sauce, hot sauce, brown sugar, cornstarch, salt, cajun seasoning, paprika, and garlic.

Transfer half of the sauce into a separate bowl and reserve for later. Brush remaining sauce onto chicken pieces.

Place chicken pieces into prepared pan. Bake at 400 degrees for 20 minutes, flip all pieces and baste with reserved sauce. Continue baking for another 20 minutes, or until chicken reaches an internal temperature of 165 degrees F.

Switch oven to broiler setting and broil, 2 to 3 minutes until sauce caramelizes. Serve hot.

Place the chicken in a bowl and pour ½ cup of the BBQ sauce over top. Mix to combine then set aside while your oven heats. Or leave it to marinate in the fridge for up to 4 hours.

Preheat your oven to 425 degrees. For easy cleanup, line a baking sheet with parchment paper or foil.

Place the chicken on the baking sheet skin side down. (Reserve any extra BBQ sauce left in the bowl.) Bake the chicken for 25 minutes.

Flip the chicken over and baste the top with the BBQ sauce that was in the marinating bowl. Return to the oven and bake for another 25 minutes.

Turn your oven to broil. Baste the top of the chicken with the remaining ¼ cup of BBQ sauce and broil for 3-5 minutes until the top is dark and caramelized. Keep a close eye on it and remove the chicken sooner if it starts to get too dark.

Made with a quick homemade BBQ sauce, the chicken is braised in the sauce which is loaded with extra flavour from the juices of the chicken. Fabulous sticky glaze, juicy inside!

ketchup (or Australian/UK tomato sauce)

apple cider vinegar

Worcestershire Sauce

tbsp brown sugar

mustard powder

onion powder

tsp salt

Preheat oven to 200°C/390°F.

Sauce: Mix all Sauce ingredients in a ceramic/glass baking dish (Note 3), then mix in water.

Add chicken and turn to coat. Place chicken skin side down.

Bake for 20 minutes. Remove from oven, turn chicken, spoon over Sauce.

Bake for a further 30 minutes, then remove and spoon over Sauce.

Skim off fat (optional): Tilt pan and spoon or drain off excess fat.

Broil/grill - Change to broiler/grill on high. Spoon sauce over chicken generously, then place under grill / broiler for 2 to 3 minutes to caramelise the chicken and the sauce to thicken more. Do not walk away - this can happen quickly!

Serve chicken, garnished with parsley or green onions, if using. Pictured in post with Mashed Potato and Green Bean Salad (minus feta).

Preheat oven to 450 F. If serving alongside chicken, mix all ingredients under potato heading together in a small baking dish then bake for 45 minutes.

Add chicken to another small baking dish. Drizzle with a bit of olive oil and season with salt and pepper. Bake for 20-25 minutes depending on the size of your breasts.

While chicken is baking and if serving, toss kale salad kit together with dressing.

Remove chicken from the oven and let rest for 5 minutes before cutting up into bite-sized pieces and tossing with BBQ sauce.

Serve in meal prep bowls alongside potatoes and kale salad. Bowls will last in the fridge up to 5 days.

Turn on the oven and preheat to 375°

Spray your 9 x 13 casserole dish with your favorite cooking spray.

Wash and dry the drumsticks with paper towels and remove the skin if you prefer.

Wash your hands and dry with paper towels.

Add the chicken into the casserole dish, place into the oven, and bake for 30 minutes.

While the chicken is baking, start to prepare your BBQ sauce.

In a medium sized sauce pan, turn the burner to medium high, and add in your BBQ sauce ingredients. Slowly whisk in all of the ingredients.

Once the sauce begins to boil, reduce the heat to low, and cook for 8 to 10 minutes or until the sauce thickens. Stir occasionally.

Remove the chicken from the oven and baste the chicken with the BBQ sauce and place back in the oven for 10 minutes. Remove from the oven, turn the chicken oven, baste again, and back into the oven for another 10 minutes.

Turn the oven to broil and let the chicken set for 3 to 5 minutes so the sauce starts to crisp.

Remove from the oven and enjoy!

chicken breasts (about 1.5 lbs. total)

Preheat the oven to 375° F. Grease a casserole dish with a bit of oil.

Place the chicken breast into a large Ziploc bag. Add oil, paprika, garlic powder, onion powder, white pepper, and salt. Shake well until fully coated with oil and spices.

Next, place the chicken into the prepared dish. Brush the breast with half of the BBQ sauce and bake in the preheated oven for about 40-50 minutes total.

After 20 minutes into baking the chicken breasts, flip the chicken and brush again with the BBQ sauce and continue to bake until cooked through.  for a total of 40 minutes or until the internal temperature reaches 165 F.

Once done, remove from the oven. Slice and serve warm with the remaining BBQ sauce.

Crockpot BBQ Chicken Sliders

BBQ Sauce (I usually use Sweet Baby Ray’s)

(1) 12 pack of King’s Hawaiian Sliders

Colby Jack Cheese

Shredded Cheddar Cheese

TBSP of Ranch Seasoning

Spray a crockpot with cooking spray.

Add chicken, minced garlic, vinegar, and all the seasonings to a crockpot.

Add some BBQ sauce on top. I don't use exact measurements for this part. I usually just do enough to cover the chicken, but you can really use as much as you'd like.

Cook on high for 4 hours or low for 6 hours.

Shred the chicken, stir well, and add a little bit more BBQ sauce if needed.

Slice King’s Hawaiian rolls in half and add sliced Colby Jack cheese.

Top the cheese with a layer of the shredded BBQ chicken.

Add shredded cheddar cheese on top of the chicken.

Add at least 6 strips of cooked bacon and place the tops of the rolls on top.

Add 1 TBSP of ranch seasoning to 4 TBSP of melted butter. Brush the melted butter/ranch seasoning all over the tops of the sliders.

Bake at 350 degrees for 10-15 minutes.
