These easy oven baked trout fillets are the perfect weeknight dinner. If you&#039;re not sure how to cook melt-in-your-mouth trout, this is the answer! With Dijon mustard, dried herbs and garlic, this will quickly become a favourite.

Baked Trout Fillets

trout fillets (halved)

olive oil (divided)

Dijon mustard

garlic (minced)

oregano

tsp chili flakes

tsp salt

Preheat oven to 400F and grease a baking sheet with 1 tbsp of olive oil.

In a small bowl, whisk remaining 2 tbsp of olive oil with Dijon mustard, garlic, dried oregano, chili flakes and salt. Brush mixture over top of trout fillets.

Bake in the oven for 10-12 minutes or until trout is light pink in colour and fully cooked.

Cut a sheet of foil large enough to wrap the trout completely.

Cover the baking sheet with the aluminum foil, and place the trout fillet in the center.

Fold up all 4 sides of the foil.

Then, season the trout with salt and pepper.

Drizzle the melted butter over the trout until evenly coated.

Top with minced garlic and fresh minced dill.

Fold the sides of the foil over the trout. Cover it completely.

Bake for about 13 minutes or until the fish flakes easily with a fork.

Preparing this baked trout with sauce couldn&#39;t be simpler. The fish, enveloped in a zesty blend of honey mustard, soy, and sesame sauce, emerges tender, succulent, and bursting with flavor. With our simple trout recipe, dinner will be ready in approximately 20 minutes. Hard to top that!

Baked Trout Recipe

soy sauce (gluten free if needed or coconut aminos)

½ medium fresh lemon (sliced)

Prep. Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).

Make The Honey Mustard Marinade Sauce. Combine Dijon mustard, honey, soy sauce, and sesame oil in a small bowl or jar. Set aside.

Season the fish. Season the trout fillets generously with salt and black pepper.

Make a foil packet. Grease foil packets with olive oil and place the seasoned trout fillets inside (fish skin side down). Pour the honey mustard mixture over the trout fillets, leave some to brush more sauce before serving.

Seal the foil packets securely. Arrange the foil packets on a baking sheet and place them in the preheated oven.

Cook. Bake for approximately 10 to 15 minutes. Check one fillet after 10 minutes; the flesh should easily flake with a fork.

Once done, remove the fish in foil packets from the oven. Pour any remaining sauce over the cooked trout, sprinkle them with mixed sesame seeds, and garnish with parsley or cilantro.

Serve the baked trout with lots of fresh lemon slices and your preferred choice of vegetables.

Easy Baked Trout with Lemon, Garlic, and Fresh Herbs

extra virgin olive oil

lemon, (zested and juiced)

sweet paprika

Urfa Biber ((optional, or substitute Aleppo pepper

green onions, (trimmed

parsley leaves, (plus more for garnish)

Kosher salt

Get ready: Preheat your oven to 400°F. Pat the trout dry with paper towels.

Make the marinade. In a 9 x 13-inch baking dish, whisk together the olive oil, lemon zest, half lemon juice (keep the rest for the lemon juice for later), cumin, paprika, Urfa Biber (if using), garlic, green onions, fresh parsley, and a big pinch of salt and pepper (about 1/2 to 3/4 teaspoon each).

Flavor the fish. Add the trout fillets to the dish, turning to cover with the sauce on both sides. Arrange, skin side down, in a single layer in the baking dish. Set it aside for a few minutes while the oven is heating.

Bake the fish. Bake in the heated oven for 10 to 12 minutes or until the fish turns opaque and flakes easily at the touch of your fork. Take it out of the oven when it’s internal temperature taken at the thickest part is at about 140°F. Remember, the temp will rise even as you take it out of the oven. (The fish is safe to enjoy when it reaches 145°F).

Finish and serve. As soon as the fish is ready, add the remaining lemon juice and a sprinkle of parsley for garnish. Serve immediately!

Very light and refreshing sauce. This simple recipe is healthy and is great if you are new to cooking trout. I served this recipe with a Spinach Strawberry Salad and green beans.

I made this and followed the recipe exactly.  Used hot peppers.  Wish I had added more onions and I made also brown rice which is great.  I always have rice with any fishes. So easy and oh so good.

Place trout on foil and drizzle each trout with 1-2 teaspoons of olive oil. Season the inside and outside with salt and pepper.

Place a few slices of lemon, one sliced clove of garlic, and a couple of sprigs of fresh dill, or the herb of your choice, inside each of the trout. Fold the foil over the fish, crimping the edges well to create an envelope for the fish to bake in.

Bake for 10-15 minutes, checking after 10 minutes to see if the fish is done. It will be opaque and flake easily with a fork when done.
