Antioxidant Berry Smoothie

blackberries

raspberries (or sub strawberries)

blueberries (I like wild blueberries)

banana

organic spinach

flaxseed meal

almond butter (or your favorite nut butter)

plain greek yogurt (whole, 2% or fat free will all work)

almond milk,

hemp seeds

In a large high-powered blender, add in all ingredients and blend on high for 1-2 minutes or until all ingredients are well combined. If necessary, add in more almond milk to thin the smoothie. Makes 1 smoothie.

+ 1/2 cup frozen mixed berries

spinach,

vanilla extract (optional)

flax or chia seeds (optional)

Combine smoothie ingredients into a blender and blend.

Pour into a bowl and decorate with your favourite toppings including sliced fruit, granola and toasted pumpkin seeds.

This smoothie is also known as Berry Blastoff.  If you're looking for a lower glycemic option, this smoothie is low in sugar and high in fiber, both of which are great for keeping blood sugar levels more stable. Free free to swap the banana with 1/2 avocado if you want to cut the fruit sugars even more.

Berry smoothies usually have a tart taste that I don't love... yet this recipe is so creamy, sweet and rich. It's always a winner in my house and I love that it's part of the 30-Day Green Smoothie Challenge.

Forgot to leave my rating in my comment.  I give this one a 5.  I made it with just strawberries and it is not too sweet.

Simple and delicious! I used a strawberry-blueberry-cherry blend and it was perfect. Sweet and fruity. The only thing I don’t like about it is that it doesn’t have that beautiful fresh green color ... hazards of adding berries to your green smoothie! But the great taste more than makes up for the brownish color.

Amazing flavor and it feels so good in your body!!

Well my first thought is that it is so pretty!  Not kinda muddy looking...and equally delicious!

It was definitely berry-packed, but despite my love of berries, this one wasn't my favorite so far. Maybe it was all the seeds, or maybe because it was less sweet because I swapped the banana for avocado. Whatever the case, I'm not stopping! :)

I skipped the banana. Had baby kale/spinach mix on hand. Used half water, half almond milk for the 1 c. of liquid. Added 2 tsp. of pili nut yogurt. AND IT WAS DELICIOUS. Based on the famous PB&amp;J sandwich and full of nutrition, this berry smoothie is antioxidant rich.

Peanut Butter and Jelly Smoothie

Combine all the ingredients in a blender, and blend until smooth. Serve at once.
