15-Minute Garlic Chili Tofu with Sesame Broccolini- a fast and easy weeknight dinner that is vegan and gluten-free. Not a fan of tofu? Try this, then tell me what you think. I bet you'll have a change of heart- I know, I've done studies!

Chili Garlic Tofu with Broccolini

extra-firm tofu (see notes)

salt

peppercorns

garlic cloves

broccolini – beans

Tablespoon Chili Garlic paste

Tablespoons Honey (or maple, agave or sugar)

Bragg Liquid Aminos or Soy Sauce

sesame seeds

Drain and blot tofu with paper towels and cut into half-inch thick pieces. Blot again.

Heat oil in a large skillet over medium heat.

Add salt, pepper and smashed garlic, directly in the skillet. Swirl and cook for 1-2 minutes until the garlic is fragrant.

Sear tofu until golden brown, over medium heat, about 5 minutes each side.

At the same time, fill a medium pot with ¾ inch of water, and set on the stove. Place a steam basket inside and layer up the broccolini. Cover with a lid and bring to a boil. Steam for 5 minutes or desired doneness &#8211; less for green beans, use your own judgment 😉

Mix the chili sauce, honey and soy sauce in a small bowl. Set aside.

When the tofu is done, divide among two plates.

With tongs, move the garlic from the skillet, transfer the broccolini to the skillet and give it a good stir to coat.

Add the toasted sesame seeds, and stir for one minute over medium heat. Divide among the plates.

Drizzle the tofu with the chili sauce and top with the seaweed strands.

Made this tonight, it’s delicious, healthy  and truly quick to put together! The only thing I’d change next time is to use less chili garlic sauce (it was a little hot for my taste). Definitely a keeper for our weeknight meal rotation list. Thanks for another great recipe!

I stumbled upon this recipe when I was searching for something quick, healthy, and did not require a ton of ingredients. And OMG, so good. Not only was it super easy, but it was super delicious. I ended up making it 3 days in a row :)

In the past when I’ve made a recipe involving tofu, 10 out of 10 times, the family would politely say it was very good but nobody would go near the left overs - and coincidentally there was always a lot left over. 
Yesterday it was dinner for two so I made this dish and my husband liked it so much he asked for more. I asked my son to try it on his way out and his reaction when I told him it was tofu was priceless!

I have to echo the other comments. Even for meat eaters, this was a delightful and easy dish! I doubled the sauce and added furikake to brussels sprouts. Another winner!

This recipe is truly a winner!  I hate tofu but I am trying to be vegan. This was going to be my last shot at tofu.  I took Sylvia's challenge to test it out and.serve it to my tofu hating family and guess what?!!!! They loved it!!! It truly is a winner!  My teenage picky eater ate it up, my middle schooler thought the garlic sauce was too spicy but loved the seared tofu with an Asian sweet chili sauce.   Grandpa said he was still suspicious of tofu but he loved the garlic chili sauce so  much he ate every bite.  My husband wants it again tomorrow!  Ha ha!  Sylvia has done it again! Tofu marinated in an easy balsamic marinade, then quickly pan fried until crisp.

Easy Balsamic Tofu

tofu

balsamic vinegar

soy sauce

maple syrup

Italian seasoning

garlic (pressed)

Coarse kosher salt and black pepper

grapeseed oil (or other neutral tasting oil)

In a shallow dish, combine balsamic vinegar, soy sauce, maple syrup, oil, Italian seasoning, and garlic. Season with salt and pepper to taste.

Add the tofu and toss gently to coat. Arrange in a single layer and allow to marinate, turning once, for 30-60 minutes.

Heat grapeseed oil in a large cast iron or non-stick skillet over medium heat. Using a slotted spoon, remove the tofu from the marinade and transfer to the hot pan. Cook 5-7 minutes, shaking the pan or carefully turning the tofu cubes so they get brown and crisp on all sides.

Add the remaining marinade to the pan and allow to cook, stirring, just until it has evaporated. Remove from the heat.

Serve balsamic tofu however you can imagine such as over pasta, in sandwiches, or as a topping to salads.

This is the best dish I have made in a very long time! So incredibly yummy that I had a hard time stopping myself from eating all of it. 😮

I made it tonight, with regular broccoli because that's what the store had.  We loved it and I'll make it again.  Even the carnivore liked it.

Making this whipped tofu is extra easy. If you love creamy and flavorful dishes, this is definitely one of them. This whipped tofu is so creamy, garlicky and so juicy because of the roasted tomatoes.

Vegan whipped tofu with roasted tomatoes

oz firm tofu

soy milk

unflavored oil

tsp black pepper

tbsp minced garlic

lemon juice

tomatoes

Firstly, roast the tomatoes in the oven at 400F (200°C) for about 30 minutes.

Meanwhile, roast the garlic in 2 tbsp oil until crispy and fragrant.

In a blender add tofu, soy milk, the rest of the oil, roasted garlic, salt, pepper, and lemon juice. Blend until smooth and creamy.

Serve with roasted tomatoes and freshly cracked pepper. Enjoy!

Quick and easy Greek gyros (vegan version) made with shaved tofu and mushrooms cooked in a killer gyros marinade, served in a warm pita with tomatoes, red onions, romaine, fries (if you want) and finished with generous dollops of dairy-free tzatziki sauce. A seriously flavorful, high protein, plant-based weeknight meal that&#39;s super satisfying and delicious for all eaters.

Epic Vegan Gyros with Tzatziki

block extra firm tofu

olive oil (divided)

onion powder

black pepper

vegan chicken bouillon powder (optional)

mushrooms

vegan mayonnaise or plain Greek yogurt

olive oil

lemon juice + zest from lemon

smoked paprika powder

cumin

oregano

red pepper flakes

brown sugar

romaine, shredded

tomatoes, diced or sliced

red onion, thinly sliced

pitas oregano (warmed)

parsley

fries (optional)

Preheat oven/ for fries: If making fries, double check the directions for cooking time. Toss the fries with some oil, a sprinkle of garlic powder, and  a pinch of salt. Pop them into the oven/air fryer to be ready when the gyros are ready to serve.

Dairy-free tzatziki: Whisk the tzatziki ingredients together if making from scratch. Chill until needed. This sauce can be made up to several days in advance (recommended).

Prepare the tofu and mushrooms: Use extra firm tofu or press softer tofu* for 30 minutes while you prepare the other recipe components. *Tofu can be pressed a day or two in advance and stored in the refrigerator as needed.

Make the marinade: Whisk the gyros meat marinade ingredients together in a small bowl or measuring cup.

Shave the mushrooms using a mandoline or sharp knife (see photos).

Cook the mushrooms: Add some olive oil or butter to a large skillet and pan fry the sliced mushrooms over medium high heat until golden and crispy around edges (~5-7 minutes). Pro Tip: You can cook the mushrooms with the tofu, but you don&#39;t get as much flavor and texture IMO. Transfer the mushrooms to a bowl.

Shave the tofu using a mandoline or sharp knife while the mushrooms are cooking. (Newbies, shave your mushrooms and tofu before starting so you&#39;re not doing two things at once.)

Cook the tofu: Toss the shaved tofu with the seasonings in a bowl. Reheat the skillet (from the mushrooms) with ~1 tablespoon oil (or cooking spray) over medium-high to high heat. Add the seasoned tofu and cook, gently stirring frequently until golden with some crispy edges (~5-7 minutes).

Prep the vegetables: While the tofu is cooking, prepare the veggies: romaine, tomatoes, red onion, and cucumbers.

Finish the gyro meat: Pour ~3/4 of the &#39;marinade&#39; sauce into the pan with the tofu - toss it all together and let it cook over medium heat for 3 or 4 minutes until the sauce sticks to the tofu. Add in the mushrooms and the remaining marinade sauce - toss together and let cook another minute or two until heated through.

Pitas: Just before serving, warm the pitas in the microwave to make them more pliable. OR for an extra layer of flavor: Pour some olive oil into your hands and rub it over both sides of the pita (like applying suntan lotion), sprinkle with garlic powder and oregano and heat on a grill pan or in a large skillet until warm and pliable.

Assemble the gyros: Spread tzatziki on the warm pita. Then add shredded lettuce, gyros meat, fresh veggies, a pile of Greek fries (if using), and more dollops of tzatziki on top. Fold over and enjoy!

These gyros wraps present beautifully and are packed with flavour punctuated with the perfect amount of crunch.  My husband devoured two !   Wouldn't hesitate to serve to the pickiest foodie! Include in your family BBQ or just serve as main course.    10/10

These gyros are so damn good. The texture and flavors are spot on. I could eat them every day. The dairy free tzatziki is out of this world delicious. Really it would taste incredible on everything!

These are so good! It's spicy from the gyro meat, tart and garlicky from the tzatziki, and crunchy from the vegetables. It definitely benefits from a high quality pita.
