Bread Pakoda is a very famous Indian tea time snack and breakfast recipe and is quite easy to make

Bread Pakora Recipe

Besan/Chickpea flour

Lemon

tsp Baking Soda

Salt

tsp Green Chilli (Finely Chopped)

tbsp Fresh Coriander (Finely Chopped)

tsp Ajwain

tsp Turmeric Powder

Oil (For Frying)

Mix all the ingredients except bread slices in a  bowl.

Add water and make a batter.

Batter should be just thin enough to coat the back of a spoon.

Heat oil for frying.

Once the oil is hot, simmer the heat to medium low.

Dip the bread slices in the batter and drop them in hot oil.

Deep fry until golden brown from both the sides.

Drain on a tissue lined plate.

Serve hot with coriander chutney.

Do not over crowd the pan while frying the pakora.

Bread Pakora (Bread Fritter) is a tasty snack that takes less than 20 mins to cook. Enjoy Bread Pakoras with hot beverages such as Tea or Coffee along with some Coriander Chutney or Tomato Sauce.

White Bread (Medium Slices)

Gram Flour (Besan)

g Green Chillies (Hari Mirch)

tsp Red Chillies Powder (Lal Mirch Powder)

tsp Turmeric Powder (Haldi Powder)

tsp Carom Seeds (Ajwain)

tsp Garam Masala

Coriander Leaves

Vegetable Oil (for Deep Fry)

tbsp Rice Flour (Chawal Ka Aata)

Finely chop Green chillies and Coriander leaves.

Now to prepare the batter, take Gram Flour, Rice flour, Red chillies powder, green chillies, coriander leaves, Garam Masala, Turmeric, Salt and Carom Seeds in a bowl and add 1.5 cup water to it.

Now mix all Ingredients properly so that there are no lump formations else it will spoil the experience. Your batter is now ready.

How to make Bread Pakora Batter

Cut each Bread slice into 4 pieces cutting diagonally. You can remove the border of the bread slices in case it is hard. Though some people like them anyways.

Take approx 2 cup Vegetable oil in a deep frying pan and put it on gas and switch it to high flame. This step you can do while you prepare the batter so that the oil is quite hot by now.

Once the oil is hot enough you can then start making Bread Pakora. To check if the oil is hot, take 1/4 tsp batter and drop it in the frying pan. If it makes intense fizzing sound and the batter drop immediately floats in the oil then it means oil is ready for frying.

Take Bread slices and wrap them well with batter such that they are covered completely. Now drop it in the hot oil. Be cautious of the hot oil spatter as they may cause burn. This may happen if you accidentally drop water droplets in the hot oil, so be careful.

While you fry, roll over Bread Pakoras so they get fried evenly on both sides. Fry Bread Pakora until they turn golden brown in colour. Once they get the required colour you can take them out using slotted turner or slotted spoon.

Your Bread Pakoras are now ready to be served. Before serving, sprinkle some Chat Masala and some herbs such as Parsley and Oregano on top of Bread Pakoras for added flavour.

For making these yummy bread pakoras, make the potato filling first. For the same, wash the potatoes, then put the potatoes in a pressure cooker and add water in it. Boil the potatoes till 3-4 whistles and mash them when they are warm, and add chopped coriander leaves, green chilies, 1 teaspoon red chili powder, dry mango powder (amchur) and salt. Mix them well.

Now prepare the besan batter. Take a large bowl, and add besan, ajwain, red chili powder, garam masala powder, asafoetida and salt. Drizzle a little water and make a smooth batter. Check the seasoning and add few drops of oil in the batter and keep it aside.

Now assemble the bread pakora by slicing the bread into triangular slices. Apply green chutney (mint and coriander chutney) on one side of triangular bread and apply mashed potato mixture evenly on the bread. Cover this slice with another triangular slice. Next dip the bread into the batter.

Take a kadhai over medium flame and add some oil. Once the oil is hot enough, leave the bread slices from sides. Deep fry these dipped bread slices in hot oil on medium flame till crisp and golden brown. Enjoy these freshly prepared bread pakoras with sauce along with tea or coffee.
