This easy recipes for slow cooker carnitas is always a win. Robust spices rubbed into the meat create incredible flavor as the meat slow cooks over several hours. The resulting meat can be used in many dishes including Carnitas Tacos.

Pineapple Citrus Slow Cooker Carnitas &amp; Carnitas Tacos

Yellow Onion (peeled, quartered and layers separated)

Garlic Cloves (peeled)

Cumin

Chili Powder

Oregano

Kosher Salt

Black Pepper

Cinnamon

Pork Butt or Pork Shoulder (large pieces of fat removed)

Pineapple Juice

Orange Juice

Lime Juice

Corn Tortillas

Red Pickled Onion

Cojita Cheese (crumbled)

Cilantro leaves (torn)

Lime wedges

Line the bottom of a 6 quart or larger slow cooker insert with the onions. Add the garlic cloves.

In a small mixing bowl combine the cumin, chili powder, oregano, salt, pepper and cinnamon. Rub to cover the pork shoulder and place on top of the onions in the slow cooker.

Pour the pineapple juice, orange juice and lime juice into the slow cooker avoiding pouring it onto the pork and displacing the rub. Cover and cook for 8 hours on LOW.

Line a large rimmed baking sheet with foil and preheat the broiler. Move the top oven rack to the second rack position.

Remove meat from the slow cooker (reserve liquids) and place on a cutting board. Using two forks shred the meat. Put the shredded meat onto the prepared baking sheet evenly spreading it into one layer.

Broil for 2 minutes, flip the meat and broil another 2 minutes. Drizzle with ¼ cup of the cooking liquids, toss and broil for a final 2 minutes.

Serve hot. Leftovers can be stored sealed in the refrigerator and are best broiled again for 2 minutes before serving.

Add some of the carnitas to a corn tortilla, with pickled red onion, cojita cheese and torn cilantro leaves. Serve with lime wedge.

Create the most juicy and tender carnitas right in your slow cooker. Then broil it in the oven for the perfect crisp, golden edges.

In a small bowl place oregano, cumin, black pepper, salt, and chili powder, then mix thoroughly.

Rub the spice mixture generously around the entire pork shoulder and place in the slow cooker.

Top with pork with the onion, minced garlic, jalapeno, and orange juice in the slow cooker.

Cover and cook on the low setting for 8-10 hours, or high heat for 5-6 hours. The meat should be tender and nearly falling apart.

Remove the pork from the slow cooker to a large cutting board and use two forks to shred the meat. (Don&#039;t get rid of the liquid as you will be using it later)

Place the shredded pork on a baking sheet.

Pour 1 cup of the reserved slow cooker liquid over the pork to season.

Broil for 5-10 minutes on high heat until the meat becomes golden browned and crispy on the edges.

Carnitas

Serve immediately with tortillas, freshly diced onion, cilantro, and a squeeze of lime juice.

Note: you&#039;ll likely have have leftover carnitas. You can make more tacos or enjoy the carnitas in burritos or on salads. You can also store it in the fridge and then reheat to enjoy later.

Braised and broiled to crispy and tender perfection, this Mexican Pulled Pork will quickly become a family favorite dinner. These pork carnitas are a hands-down winner.

Pork Carnitas Recipe (Mexican Pulled Pork)

(3.5 pork

brown onion, peeled and halved

bay leaves

tsp cumin

garlic powder

salt black pepper

18-20 (6 inch) corn tortillas, warmed

Adjust oven rack to lower middle position. Preheat oven to 300F.

Combine pork, onion, bay leaves, oregano, cumin, garlic, 1 1/2 tsp table salt, 1 tsp pepper, water, and lime juice in a large Dutch oven Liquid should barely be covering the meat. Juice the orange in a bowl and add both the juice and orange remnants to the pot. Bring mixture to simmer over medium high heat, stirring occasionally. Cover pot and transfer to oven. Cook until meat is soft and is fork tender, about 2 1/2 hours, stirring meat around once during cooking.

Remove the pot from oven. Transfer pork to a bowl with slotted spoon. Remove orange halves, onion, and bay leaves from the liquid and discard. Do not skim fat from liquid. Place pot over high heat and simmer liquid, stirring often, about 10-12 min. You should end up with 1 cup of reduced liquid. Turn oven to broil.

Shred pork roughly; not too finely. Fold in the reduced liquid, season with salt and pepper to taste. Spread pork in even layer on rimmed baking sheet. Place sheet on an upper rack and broil until top of meat is well browned but not charred. Edges should be slightly crisp. 5-7 in. Serve immediately with your choice of garnishes and warm corn tortillas.

I made these last night in the oven and they were DELICIOUS!!!  I did discover today that the better way to heat the leftover meat up was in the oven (covered); I tried the microwave at lunchtime and the meat was a little dry (but still great).

(13 grams) garlic cloves (, crushed)

(15 milliliters) regular soy sauce

Cut Pork Shoulder: Remove rind and bone from pork shoulder. Cut pork shoulder into ~2 – 2¼ inches cubes as uniformly as possible. Keep the excess fat. Amy + Jacky&#39;s Tip: Don&#39;t trim off the fat from cubed pork shoulder.

Marinate Pork Shoulder Cubes

Marinate Pork Shoulder Cubes: Place pork shoulder cubes and excess fat in Instant Pot. Season very generously with kosher salt and ground black pepper. Add 4 crushed garlic cloves, chopped onion, 1 tsp (2g) ground cumin, ½ - 1 tsp (1g - 2g) cinnamon powder, 2 bay leaves, 1 tbsp (15ml) regular soy sauce, and 55ml orange juice (from 1 orange) in Instant Pot. Mix well, then let the pork marinate for 20 minutes.

Crisp Pork Shoulder: Take a bite and see if the pork is salty enough. If the pork is not salty enough, add more kosher salt to the cooking liquid. Taste and adjust accordingly.Transfer the pork shoulder to a baking tray. Brush some of the cooking liquid on each piece of pork before crisping.Amy + Jacky&#39;s Basting Tip: The cooking liquid should be mostly fat.
