Leaving them attached, place the 8 hot dog buns in a 9 x 13-inch (22 x 33-cm) baking dish. Cut a rectangle in each hot dog bun, making sure to stay 1 centimeter from the edges. Push down on the bread cut-out to compact it tightly into the bottom of each bun, making sure to press down on the bottom edges as well. This will help create a larger space for the fillings and reduce mess.

Mix the butter, garlic, and parsley in a small bowl, then brush the buns and their hollowed insides with the garlic butter. Bake for 5 minutes to toast the buns as well as help the sides of the buns firm up so they don’t collapse under the weight of the fillings.

Place a slice of cheddar cheese inside each bun, then spoon a bit of chili inside each one. Slide a hot dog snugly on top of the chili in each bun, then top with more chili.

Bake for 20-25 minutes, until the cheese is golden brown and the chili has started to brown. Top with fresh parsley, then slice the hot dog boats along their connected seams to serve.

Add the ground beef to a small pot over medium heat. Let it cook until you see some fat in the pan then add the onions and garlic. Continue to cook until the meat is no longer pink and the onions are soft, about 5 minutes. 

Add the honey and chili powder to the pot and stir well. Let it cook for 2-3 minutes to caramelize the honey then add the diced tomatoes, salt, and pepper. Let the chili simmer on low heat while you prepare the dogs and buns. 

Cook the hot dogs and warm the buns over a fire, on a grill, or in a pan on your stove. When they&#8217;re ready, put a hot dog in each bun and top with ¼ cup of the chili, 2 tablespoons of shredded cheddar, and some green onions. (See notes)

Chili Cheese Burgers

lb. ground beef, divided

In a large bowl, combine 1 1/4 pounds ground beef, garlic, and 1 tablespoon chili powder and season with salt and pepper. Form into four patties.

In a large skillet over medium-high heat, heat vegetable oil. Add patties and cook 4 minutes per side, then drain fat.

Make chili sauce: Add onions to skillet and cook until soft and tender, 5 minutes, then season with salt. Add remaining ground beef and cook until no longer pink, 6 minutes, then drain fat.

Stir in remaining chili powder, cumin, paprika, and garlic powder until combined, then add diced tomatoes and tomato sauce and stir until combined. Let simmer 5 minutes (add 1/4 cup to 1/2 cup water to thin sauce to your desired consistency).

Return burger patties back to the skillet and spoon sauce all over. Top with cheddar and cover with lid to melt.

Assemble burgers: Top buns with burgers, spoon over more chili sauce, and top with green onions and pickled jalapeños.

tsp apple cider vinegar

hot dog franks (I use Ball Park all-beef franks, preferably grilled)

cheddar cheese (shredded)

Heat olive oil over medium-high heat in deep pot.

Add the onion and cook until sweating, about 3-4 minutes.

Add the ground beef and cook over medium-high heat until well-browned, about 8-10 minutes.

Add tomato paste, ketchup, Worcestershire sauce, vinegar, salt, pepper, paprika, cumin, ginger, and cayenne, and stir together, making sure all the meat is broken up into small pieces.

Add the chicken stock and bring to a simmer.

Stirring occasionally, simmer over low heat until chili thickens, about 10-12 minutes.

Serve over grilled hot dogs and garnish with shredded cheese.

Easy Baked Chili Cheese Dog Recipe in a Casserole Dish

Preheat the oven to 350°F.

Line a 9”x13” pan with aluminum foil and lightly spray with non-stick cooking spray.

Place hot dog buns in the pan and evenly disperse 1 cup of shredded cheddar cheese inside the buns.

Next, place a hot dog inside of each bun. Evenly disperse 1 cup of chili across the top of each hot dog. Add red onion if desired.

Melt butter and stir in minced garlic. Brush over the hot dog buns.

Top each hot dog with the remaining cheddar cheese. Tent with foil and bake for 30-35 minutes or until cheese is melted on top.

Remove hot dogs from the pan with a spatula and serve promptly with additional toppings, if desired.
