Better Than Sex Trifle Dessert - Just slay into all those luscious layers of dark chocolate cake drenched in sweetened condensed milk, salted caramel sauce, buttery Heath toffee bits and tons of fluffy whipped cream.  Feeds a crowd for any occasion.  Makes everyone happy &amp; satisfied, but it&#x27;s so addicting, you might have to give in and go another round!  Let&#x27;s toast to the New Year &amp; party!

Better Than Sex Trifle Dessert

unsalted butter

unsweetened (cocoa powder)

water

espresso powder

all-purpose flour flour

sugar

baking soda

salt

eggs (room temperature)

buttermilk (or milk of choice)

vanilla extract

14 oz Sweetened Condensed Milk

unsalted butter (room temperature, cut in chunks)

heavy cream (room temperature)

flaky sea salt

16-20 oz whipped cream sugar

3-5 Heath Bars

Pre-heat oven to 375 degrees F.  Line a 9 x 13 inch pan with parchment paper and spray with non-stick cooking spray.  Set aside.

Home-made Version: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, sugar, baking soda and salt, set aside.

Place the butter, cocoa powder, water, and espresso powder in a saucepan. Bring to a boil over medium-high heat stirring until smooth and the cocoa has dissolved.  Pour the chocolate mixture over the dry ingredients and whisk until smooth.

Add the buttermilk, vanilla and eggs and whisk until completely combined.

Pour the batter into the prepared pan and bake for 22-25 minutes, or until the top of the cake springs back after being gently pressed with a fingertip. Cool slightly and cut into cake one inch squares.

Chocolate Sheet Cake or 1 Chocolate Cake Mix + Ingredients for 9x13 sheet pan prepared as directed on package.

Pour the sweetened condensed milk over the cake and place cake in fridge to prepare the whipped cream and caramel if making from scratch.

Sweetened Condensed Milk Layer

Place the sugar in a medium sized heavy bottom saucepan. Heat on medium, stirring constantly. The sugar will start to form clumps, then begin to melt. Cook until is it amber in color, then remove from the heat and immediately add all of the butter. Be careful as the caramel will bubble rapidly. Once the butter is incorporated, add the cream and stir well. Stir in the salt, and pour into a glass jar until ready to use.

Home-made Salted Caramel Sauce or use Pre-made Salted Caramel Sauce

To make fresh whipped topping: Add 4-5 heavy whipping cream and powdered sugar and beat on medium for 1 minute. Increase speed to medium high and continue beating until stiff peaks form approx 5 mins in all. Don’t overbeat, or you’ll end up with lumpy butter.

16 - 20 oz Whipped cream or 4-5 cups heavy whipping cream + 1/2 cup powdered sugar

Chop up Heath bars, set aside

Heath Bar Layer

Time to layer, then layer again...

Place and layer ½ of drenched sweetened condensed milk chocolate cake cubes into the bottom of trifle bowl.

Drizzle some salted caramel over cake cubes.

Sprinkle some Heath Bar bits over caramel/cake cubes.

Spoon or pipe a whipped cream layer on top of cake cubes, then repeat layers one more time, then pipe a whipped cream border if you wish.  Add some more salted caramel sauce and heath bits. The more the merrier!

Refrigerate overnight or up to 6 hours.  Let&#x27;s Party!

Make the two Swiss Rolls according to the recipe (link above in ingredient list) but fill it instead with Nana Ling&#39;s Lemon Curd (again, made according to the recipe - link above in ingredient list).

Cut into slices and sprinkle with orange juice (once you&#39;ve placed the slices in the trifle bowl - see below for assembling trifle).

Swiss Roll with Lemon Curd

Make up the jellies according to the packet instructions and then combine to make lemon/orange jelly.

Jelly

Make the Amaretti Biscuits according to the recipe (link above in ingredient list).

Amaretti Biscuits

Peel the mandarins and blanch segments in boiling water for 5 minutes. Strain and then remove as much pith and seed from the segments as possible. Using a pair of kitchen scissors may help with this task.

Combine half the mandarin segments with the sugar and half of the water in a saucepan. Heat gently until the mixture breaks down.

Combine the arrowroot with the remaining water and add to the warm mandarin mixture. Heat gently to thicken. Take off heat and add the lemon juice and zest and stir to combine.

Add the remaining whole mandarin segments to the mixture. Allow to cool completely before adding this layer to the trifle.

Mandarin Coulis

Whip cream to form soft peaks.

Cream

Finely chop mandarin skins. Place in a saucepan with the sugar and place over medium heat, stirring, for 5 minutes. Place onto baking paper to cool.

Melt the white chocolate using 20 second bursts in the microwave and stirring between each burst.

Pour chocolate onto a baking tray lined with baking paper and spread out with a spatula. Sprinkle the mandarin pieces over the chocolate and place in fridge to set.

Once set, break or cut with a sharp knife into shards

Jewelled Chocolate Bark

Place swiss roll slices around the bottom of the trifle bowl with the swirl pattern visible around the outside. Sprinkle over the juice.

Once jelly is almost set, pour on top of swiss rolls and place into fridge to set completely.

Pour custard over set jelly.

Keep one or two of the Amaretti Biscuits aside and place the rest in the trifle bowl as the next layer.

Pour Mandarin Coulis over Amaretti Biscuits.

Spread cream over top as next layer.

Place shards of Jewelled Chocolate Bark into top of trifle and break up Amaretti Biscuits and sprinkle over the top of the cream.

To assemble

Layered cubed brownies, bits of toffee, chocolate pudding, and cool whip.&nbsp; Most excellent dessert!

Easy Chocolate Brownie Toffee Trifle

ingredients you may need to make the brownies.)

oz bag of milk chocolate chips

Boxes of chocolate instant pudding mix (5.9 oz each)

Milk

Cool Whip

8 oz bag of toffee bits and pieces

Pour the brownie mix into a large mixing bowl,  add the chocolate chips to the brownie mix.  Follow the directions and add any additional ingredients called for on the box.  Best to use a 9x13 pan and bake for about 25 minutes.  Cool and then cut into 1-inch squares.

In a large bowl, blend the pudding mix and the milk for about 2 minutes. A wire whisk works well for this step.  Then fold in about 3 cups of cool whip.

Begin to layer about 1/2 the brownies in the bottom of a large trifle bowl, half of the pudding mixture, about 1/2 cup toffee bits and pieces, and a layer of cool whip.  Repeat with another layer.  Top with remaining toffee bits and pieces.

Add additional candy toppings, if desired.  Cover and store in the refrigerator at least overnight.

This trifle made with layers of dark chocolate cake, chocolate pudding, cool whip non dairy whipped topping and Heath Bar toffee bits is sinfully delicious.

Dark Chocolate Heath Bar Trifle

box Prepared Dark Chocolate Cake Mix

2- 3.9(ounce) boxes Prepared Chocolate Pudding

Cool Whip ((or other non dairy topping))

Heath Bar Toffee Bits

Follow the instructions on the package; then refrigerate for at least 1 hour so that it thickens properly.

For the Chocolate Pudding

Follow the directions on the box and bake in two 9&quot; round cake pans. Allow the cake to cool completely, remove from the pan to a wire rack; then cut each half horizontally forming four circles.

For the Dark Chocolate Cake

Start by adding one cake layer to the bottom of the trifle bowl, top with the pudding, followed by the whipped topping; then the toffee bits. Repeat for all four layers. (Depending on the size of your trifle bowl, you may only be able to get 3 complete layers.)

Our Chocolate Trifle recipe is made quick and easy from scratch, with layers of chocolate cake, chocolate pudding, whipped cream, and crushed heath bars.

Prepare chocolate pudding: here&#39;s my homemade chocolate pudding recipe, or use a large box of instant chocolate pudding.

Cut the baked chocolate cake into small cubes. (Use our homemade chocolate cake, or a cake mix, baked in a 9x13&#39;&#39; pan.)

Whip Cream: Place whipping cream in a large mixing bowl. Beat with electric beaters for 1-2 minutes. Slowly add the powdered sugar and continue beating until stiff peaks form. Set aside.

Assemble: Layer 1/3 of the cake cubes in the bottom of a trifle dish. Dollop 1/3 of the pudding mixture over the cake. Sprinkle 1/3 of the heath bar pieces over the pudding. Spread 1/3 of the whipped cream over the heath bars. Repeat with two more layers.

Refrigerate trifle for 1-2 hours before serving.

Love this recipe! Super simple, beautiful and delicious. I like to double the amount of pudding to make sure all the cake pieces get generously covered for each layer.
