This cracker candy is crispy and chocolaty with a sweet buttery toffee finish.

Best Ever Christmas Crack 

(227 grams) unsalted or salted butter

(220 grams) packed light or dark brown sugar

salted saltine crackers (about 1 sleeve)

pkg (270 grams-300 grams) milk chocolate chips

Preheat oven to 350F. Line a large baking sheet with heavy duty aluminum foil (if using regular foil, spray with non-stick cooking spray for easy removal). Spread the crackers out on the foil in a single layer and fold up the edges of the foil to box in the crackers. Set aside.

In a small saucepan, melt the butter and brown sugar over medium-high heat on the stovetop. Bring to a rolling boil. Reduce the heat to medium and continue to boil for 5 minutes (set a timer), stirring occasionally. Quickly pour over the crackers and spread to cover completely.

Bake for 5 minutes in the oven. Turn off heat. Remove from oven and immediately sprinkle the chocolate chips on top.

Let stand for 1-2 minutes or until the chocolate starts to look shiny and is soft enough spread evenly over the toffee. If the chocolate is still not warm enough to spread after 4 minutes, place it back in the oven for a minute to help soften it.

Top with any additional toppings if desired.

Chill in the refrigerator for about 2 hours to harden. Peel away the foil and break into pieces.

Just made this but used chocolate almond bark instead of chips and shaved it with a cheese grater. Melted almost instantly. Topped with chopped butterfinger. It is primo!

This is absolutely delicious.  Made it for the first time this year!   Added chopped pecans to 1/3, white chocolate chips to 1/3, and M&amp;M's and christmas cookie candies to the other 1/3.  So cute and such a variety!

One of the easiest and most addictive desserts to make and have around! I had to give most of it to family or I risked eating the whole platter.
It’s a recipe I’ll be making each year! I topped with Heath bar bits to half and sea salt on the other half. It doesn’t matter what you put on there, it’s delicious!

So good!! I lay toasted slivered almonds on the top before putting it in the oven, I have heavier cookie sheets so it takes about 8 minutes to bubble, when it comes out I usually toss on the Chocolate chips and cover with another cookie sheet, traps the heat and in a few minutes they spread easily, everyone i know loves these!!

I'm hesitant to put a hot cookie sheet in a cold refrigerator glass shelf.  Is it safe?  How long after the bake/spread of chocolate do you wait before putting in the refrigerator?

This recipe is very easy and it tastes great! I can’t wait to make another batch. It only uses 4 ingredients . Then it can be topped with colored sprinkles or candies or nuts, it’s endless. So easy makes it fun!

My grandmother passed away two years ago today. Every year around Christmas, she would mail out baked goods and this tasted just like the toffee she would send. I may have ugly cried- thank you for the delicious recipe ❤️

I think my toffee overcooked.  I would have been better off using a candy thermometer since all stoves are different and some "medium" on the cooktop is subjective.  But it was so easy to make.  WE haven't tasted yet....it's in the fridge, but I am sure they will still be yummy because the toffee tasted ok....just a tad "burnt" (almost gave it a sorghum hint).  Thanks for this fun recipe!!

Sweet and salty, this Christmas Crack recipe comes together easily with only a handful of simple ingredients! Crackers paired with chocolate and caramel, this makes for a delicious festive treat!

Christmas Crack Recipe

saltine crackers

salted butter

brown sugar

semi-sweet chocolate chips ((12-ounce))

toppings (such as chopped nuts, sprinkles, flaked salt, or candy)

Preheat the oven to 350F. Line a 10x15-inch jelly roll or quarter sheet pan with foil. Lightly spray with cooking spray.

Line the bottom of the pan with a single layer of crackers. Break some in half to fit if needed.

In a small pot, melted butter over medium heat. Stir in the brown sugar. Cook, stirring frequently until the mixture comes to a boil. Boil for 3 minutes or until a candy thermometer reads between 255 and 265F when moved throughout the pot. Immediately pour over the crackers and spread with a spatula to evenly coat them.

Bake for 5 minutes or until the caramel is bubbling throughout most of the pan. Remove the pan from the oven and turn the oven off. Let the tray cool just until the caramel stops bubbling, about 3 minutes.

Sprinkle the chocolate chips all over the top of the caramel and let stand for 10 minutes. Use an offset spatula to spread the chocolate into an even layer all over the top of the caramel. (If the chips aren’t fully melted, place the tray in the warm oven for a minute or two and spread again.)

Sprinkle with the toppings of your choice. Cool for 30 minutes then place in the fridge and chill for at least 2 hours or up to 1 day. Use the foil to lift the candy out of the tray, and peel the foil away. Break the candy into pieces before serving.

Peanut Butter Bits Cracker Candy 

(2) 8.8 oz boxes Peanut Butter Ritz Bits

butter

chocolate chips

tbsp butter, for topping

peanuts, roughly chopped

Preheat oven to 400 degrees and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.

Arrange an even layer of cracker bits to the edges of the baking sheet and set aside.

In a small saucepan, add sugar and butter and bring to a boil over medium heat. Boil for 3-4 minutes then immediately pour mixture over the arranged crackers.

Bake for 6-8 minutes, caramel will be bubbling.

Let the sheet cool for a few minutes while you melt the chocolate.

In a medium microwave-safe bowl, heat chocolate and 1 tablespoon butter in 30 second increments until fully melted.

Pour chocolate over crackers and spread into an even layer. Top with chopped peanuts if desired.

Allow candy to fully cool before breaking or cutting into pieces (cooling can be sped up in the fridge).

Preheat oven to 350.

Line baking sheet with parchment paper.

Place crackers on parchment in a single layer side by side.

Combine butter and sugar in a pot over medium-high heat stirring occasionally.

Once the mixture comes to a boil, stir frequently for 3.5 minutes exactly then remove from heat.

Pour the butter and sugar mixture over the crackers and use a spatula to spread into an even layer, covering all of the crackers.

Bake for 6 minutes.

Add chocolate chips on top and wait 90 seconds allowing chocolate to become soft. Spread evenly.

Use the toppings of your choice to decorate then allow to fully cool before cracking into pieces.

*Speed up the cooling process by placing the candy in the fridge or on a table outside (please keep animals in mind).

Cracker Candy captures holiday cheer in a sweet, simple treat! This saltine cracker toffee recipe is easy to make for Christmas food gifts!

Christmas Cracker Candy (Saltine Toffee Recipe)

saltine crackers ((about 1 ½ sleeves))

white sugar

mini chocolate chips

red and green M&Ms

holiday sprinkles (optional (for garnish))

Preheat the oven to 375°F. Line a 10x15-inch rimmed baking sheet with aluminum foil, and grease with non-stick cooking spray.

Arrange saltine crackers in an even layer on the baking sheet, and set aside.

To a medium saucepan over medium-high heat, add the salted butter, light brown sugar, and granulated white sugar. Using a heat-safe silicone spatula, continuously stir the mixture until it comes to a boil. Continue cooking and stirring for another 2-3 minutes, until the mixture has a caramel brown color.

Pour the mixture over the saltine crackers and use the silicone spatula to spread into an even layer.

Place the sheet pan in the oven and bake the cracker toffee for 5 minutes, or until the caramel is bubbly.

Remove the pan from the oven and Immediately sprinkle the mini chocolate chips evenly over the top. Wait 1-2 minutes for the chocolate to melt, then use a silicone spatula to spread the melted chocolate evenly over the toffee.

Sprinkle red and green M&Ms and holiday sprinkles over the top of the chocolate.

Place the pan into the fridge for about 20 minutes, or until the toffee sets.

When ready to serve, lift the aluminum foil to remove the saltine cracker toffee from the sheet pan. Use your fingers or a knife to break or cut the toffee into uneven pieces.

We make this every year except we use half chocolate chips and half heath toffee chips..we melt the chocolate chips and then add the heath chips on top. Delicious
