Boxed Cream of Rice is gloppy and processed, but homemade is delicious! Cook rice in milk and cream for a creamy texture that provides a great start to the day, especially when topped with fruits, nuts, and syrups.

Cream of Rice

half and half

milk

arborio rice rice

salt

toppings

In a medium saucepan, combine the half and half and milk. Bring to a low boil, stirring constantly to prevent burning.

Stir in the rice and salt.

Cover and reduce to lowest heat. Cook for 20 to 25 minutes or until the liquid has been absorbed and the rice is tender.

Serve with toppings.

This Cream of Rice Cereal is a delicious and simple homemade gluten-free alternative to Cream of Wheat.

Cream of Rice Cereal (Rice Porridge)

Grind rice coarsely in a blender or coffee grinder.

Heat liquid over medium heat to a slow boil.

Add rice gradually, stirring while adding.

Cover and simmer for 5-15 minutes, until thickened.

Make sure to check the pan while the cereal is cooking, and stir it occasionally. Add more liquid if needed to keep it from sticking to the pan.

Serve with desired toppings.

Salt, garlic, hella seasoning

Place cream of rice plus seasonings into a pot and add water according to the package directions. Do not skimp on the salt, it’s bland rice and it needs some flavor add garlic powder also

Cook according to the package directions, stirring frequently

In a separate pan sauté your deli ham to crisp it up, essentially pretend it’s bacon and sauté your spinach

When the cream of rice is thickened, stir in your egg whites

Let cook until thickened again dumpster and your cheese and sautéed ham
