Creamed Napa Cabbage Casserole tastes juicy delicious in winter. This Chinese cabbage casserole is economical and easy to make. There are two versions for Paleo/Whole30 and Keto users.

Creamed Napa Cabbage Casserole

Napa cabbage

Turkey bacon or regular bacon or salted ham

(finely minced)

tbsp ghee (or butter)

½+1/4 tsp Takii Umami Mushroom Powder (or coarse sea salt)

coconut cream

cassava flour (or 2-3 tsp arrowroot starch

mozzarella (optional

chives scallions

Dice the Napa cabbage stems to 1 to 1.25-inch in width. Dice the cabbage leaves to 2-inch in width. Rinse and set aside to drain.

Dice bacon or ham to bite sizes and finely mince garlic.

In a well-heated wok or Dutch oven, melt ghee and add the bacon. Saute for about 1 minute over medium heat.

Add garlic and saute for 10-15 seconds or until you can smell the fragrance.

Add Napa cabbage. Turn high heat and season with Takii mushroom powder or salt. Saute for about 3 minutes, then cover it with a lid. Lower the heat to medium and cook for about 4 minutes additional or until the cabbage stems turn softer but not mushy.

Stir-in the coconut cream and turn heat to medium-high. Once the cream is melted and starts bubbling, sprinkle in thichner of choice 1 tsp a time (Cassava, arrowroot, or xanthan gum).  Keep stirring and tossing to mix the thickener with the sauce. The sauce should become thicker in about 1-2 minutes.

Off heat. Taste and adjust with more salt and black pepper if desired. Sprinkle chives or scallions. Serve warm.

If adding cheese to make a casserole dish. Preheat oven to 450F. Pour the cabbage into a medium size casserole dish and sprinkle the cheese evenly on top. Bake for 10-15 minutes or until the top is golden brown color. Serve hot or warm.

Creamy Cabbage - A Creamed Cabbage with Heavy Cream

Tablespoons butter

cabbage (one head)

black pepper

salt

heavy whipping cream

Melt butter in a large skillet over medium high heat until it begins to lightly brown.

Add shredded cabbage, stir, and cover. Simmer for 5 minutes.

Remove lid and stir. Reduce heat to medium and cook for another 5 minutes.

Add salt, pepper and cream, cover and simmer for 4 more minutes.

Creamed Cabbage

cabbage

evaporated milk

white vinegar

mayonnaise

Add the vinegar to the evaporated milk and set aside.

Grate the cabbage either by hand or with a food processor.

Salt the grated cabbage and let sit for at least half an hour.

Squeeze the cabbage to remove the excess water and place in a bowl.

Add the evaporated milk mixture to the cabbage. Mix well.

I love pork, too! My favorite is the country style boneless ribs I get at Costco but they seem to always be out lately. I would so try the ribs. And just saw Zaycon offer bacon-wrapped pork fillet, chicken breast and sausage in my area, too. Yum!

mmmmmm Ribs.  I have my own sauce but I generally use Sweet Baby Rays.  But now that I have seen this chicken for the soul Honey Mustard, I think I will be all over that!

Stir occasionally for 10 minutes, or until soft.

Add cream, salt, and pepper to taste.

Cover and simmer for 4-5 minutes, or until the texture is the way you like. Don’t overcook or the texture will be gross.

I just made this &amp; ate the whole recipe's worth myself! I used what was on hand --non-fat evaporated milk, &amp; can only imagine what heavy cream would add. It was fabulous. I cannot believe we didn't eat this growing up. It is really good and simple. Thanks! I had bought a giant bag of shredded cabbage &amp; needed a new idea.

This easy creamed cabbage recipe brings out the tender, sweet flavors of the cabbage and mixes it with a creamy sauce that&#039;s full of flavor.

green cabbage, sliced

medium yellow onion, diced

garlic,

butter

all-purpose flour

milk

chicken broth

salt & pepper

First, prep all the veggies. Slice the cabbage, dice the onion and mince the garlic. Have everything within arms reach when you start the recipe. You&#039;ll need a pan with a lid.

In the pan, add a little oil and sauté the onion and garlic. Once the onion and garlic are soft and fragrant add in the butter. The pan should not be super hot, if the butter melts immediately and starts to brown the pan is too hot and you need to let it cool before going to the next step.

Add in the flour and mix in with the butter and cooked onions and garlic. Then, add in the milk and chicken broth. Season lightly with salt and pepper. Once the milk starts to steam lower the heat to medium low.

Now, right on top add the sliced cabbage and cover. Cook for 15 minutes or until the cabbage is tender and stir every 5 minutes. If you notice a bunch of browning at the bottom of the pan while mixing after 5 minutes lower the heat a little more.
