Crockpot Turkey Breast Recipe

apple juice or apple cider

turkey breast (thawed, if frozen)

carrots (washed & halved lengthwise)

chicken broth

unsalted butter (melted)

Combine all brine ingredients in a large nonreactive pot. Heat and stir, about 5-10 minutes, or until sugar and salt dissolve. Remove from heat and cool completely. Add the turkey breast, cover and refrigerate overnight or at least 8 hours.

For Brining the Turkey:

Set slow-cooker to HIGH and spray the interior with nonstick spray.

Remove the turkey from the pot and rinse it thoroughly with cold water, and pat it dry with paper towels.

Place the celery, onions, and carrots in the bottom of the slow-cooker, and pour the broth over the vegetables.

Set the turkey breast on top of the vegetables and pour melted butter over the turkey.

Sprinkle the breast with salt, black pepper, sage, rosemary and orange zest.

Cover the slow-cooker and cook on HIGH 2 hours, reduce the temperature to LOW and cook an additional 1-2 hours or until the internal temperature of the middle of the turkey breast registers 165°F-168°F.

Remove the breast from the slow-cooker, cover with foil and let it rest 15 minutes.

Cut into ½-inch slices and serve.

Layer carrots and celery in the base of your crockpot. Place the turkey breast on top of the vegetables.

Mix together olive oil and spices. Brush the outside of the turkey breast with oil/spice mixture.

Add in 1 cup of stock or water to the bottom of the crockpot, cover and set to cook on low for 6-8 hours or high for 3-4 hours. Low is recommended.

You can transfer the turkey to a glass baking dish and broil to make the skin crispy for 4-5 minutes, or serve directly from the crockpot!

Optional Gravy: Take 1 cup of broth from the base of the crockpot and add it to a small sauce pot. Bring to a boil, whisking in flour and spices. Reduce heat and simmer. It should thicken almost immediately.

For the Turkey:

For the Gravy:

Tbsp Cornstarch

Water

Combine the butter, garlic, paprika, thyme, salt and pepper together in a small bowl.

Place the sliced onions at the bottom of a 6 quart crock pot. Place the turkey breast on top.

Pour the butter mixture over the top of the ingredients in the crock pot.

Cover and cook on low for 5-6 hours or on high for 2.5-3 hours until the turkey breast reaching an internal temperature of 165 degrees F.

Remove the turkey breast from the crock pot and let sit for 5 minutes before slicing.

Transfer 1 cup of the sauce from the crock pot to a small saucepan and stir in the chicken broth.

Heat over medium high heat until the mixture starts to boil slightly.

Combine the cornstarch and water together in a small bowl. Whisk the cornstarch mixture into the saucepan and heat for 3-4 minutes, stirring constantly until the sauce thickens to the consistency that you prefer.

Slice the turkey and serve with the gravy drizzled over the top and enjoy!

Make Garlic Turkey Rub: Combine all the rub ingredients in a bowl and mix until it forms a wet paste. This consistency makes it easy to spread and ensures that the turkey is well-coated with flavor

Prep the Turkey: Pat the turkey breast dry with paper towels. Generously slather it with the rub, making sure to coat the sides and top for full flavor coverage.

Set Up the Slow Cooker: Arrange garlic heads, onion, and sprigs of thyme at the bottom of your slow cooker. This acts as a natural roasting rack, keeping the turkey from sitting in all the liquid.

Cook Low and Slow: Place the turkey breast skin-side up on top of the onions and garlic. Cook on LOW for approximately or until an internal temperature of 165°F is reached. If possible, start checking around the 5-hour mark. (DO NOT COOK ON HIGH)

If crisping the skin, skip to that step then rest before serving.

Rest and Finish: Once done, remove the turkey to a serving platter and let it rest for about 10-20 minutes. Reserve the drippings for turkey gravy.

Preheat the Broiler: Set your oven broiler to high and position an oven rack about 12 inches from the top burner..

Transfer to a Baking Dish or Pan: Carefully place the cooked turkey breast into a heatproof serving dish or roasting pan.

Broil: Place the dish on the oven rack and broil for 3-5 minutes. Keep a close eye on it during this step to prevent burning, as it can brown very quickly.

Remove and Serve: Once the skin is golden and crispy, remove the turkey from the oven. Once it has rested for 10-20 minutes, serve.

This recipe is my go-to when it is just my husband and me.  We want turkey, but not all the leftovers (just enough for some sandwiches).  I usually use a boneless breast, easy rub goes on, and it goes in the slow cooker - done!!!!  Comes out perfect every time.

3-3.5 lb boneless turkey breast

unsalted butter ((softened))

Italian seasoning

Place turkey breast (completely thawed, if it was frozen) in a 2.5-4 quart crockpot. If you&#x27;re using a turkey breast roast, be sure to leave the netting in place.

In a small bowl, combine butter, garlic, Italian seasoning, seasoning salt and pepper. Rub all over the turkey breast, both sides (be sure to get under and on top of the skin if your turkey breast has skin).

Cover and cook on low for 5 hours or until the internal temperature of the turkey reaches at least 165 degrees F.

Remove to a cutting board and let rest for 10-15 minutes while you start the gravy.

To make the gravy, strain the juices from the crockpot with a fine mesh sieve into a medium pot.

Whisk together chicken broth and corn starch. Whisk into turkey juices.

Cook on medium heat, whisking often, until thickened. Taste and add recommend seasonings (parsley, thyme and pepper) or adjust seasonings to your tastes.

Thinly slice the turkey breast, and place back into the crockpot on warm to serve later, or serve immediately with gravy.

Here in Canada the turkey breasts are frozen like that in a box, netting on. I believe you mentioned to thaw first?  After cooking and resting obviously the netting is removed then meat sliced?  Sorry simple question but I’ve not made one of these before. Does the spices still get into the turkey with that netting?  I’m going to try this for Christmas!  Thank you!
