Where are my pickle lovers at?! These deep fried dill pickles are a delicious and easy appetizer that&#039;s a real crowd pleaser. Serve the with lashings of ranch sauce or add them as a topping for your burgers. Easy to make, if you haven&#039;t had a frickle yet, get ready to be blown away!

Deep Fried Dill Pickles (Frickles)

flour

water

baking powder

salt

black pepper

cayenne

paprika

panko breadcrumbs

750 ml baby dill pickles

Cut the pickles in half lengthways and dab with kitchen paper to remove any excess moisture.

Add the batter ingredients to a large jug or bowl and whisk together until combined.

Place some of the panko breadcrumbs into a bowl.

Dip a pickle, one at a time, into the batter and then coat it with the breadcrumbs and lay on a parchment lined baking sheet. Your hands will likely get messy after a few dips as the batter is super thick. Add the panko in small amounts to the bowl so it doesn&#039;t clump together and refill as you go.

Heat a good amount of oil in a pot on the stovetop. You want enough oil so that the pickles will float.

Once the oil is hot, add the coated pickles to the oil. Take care not to over crowd them, I did about 4 at a time.

Cook the pickles for about 4 to 5 minutes, turning them halfway through with tongs, until they are golden brown.

Once cooked, place the fried pickles on kitchen towel to drain while you cook the others.

Serve immediately.

Fried Pickles With The Best Dipping Sauce

Fried pickles:

(about 46) Sliced Pickles

Flour

Cajun Seasoning

Oregano

Salt and Pepper to taste

Dipping sauce:

Mayonnaise

Ketchup

Radish,

Combine flour, cajun seasoning, oregano, salt, and pepper in a bowl.

Cover the pickles completely with the flour mixture, pressing them as much as possible.

Heat oil in a deep frying pan to 350°F (180ºC). Fry the pickles until golden brown on the bottom, and then flip (or use a grid to submerge). 

Make the sauce by mixing all the ingredients together in a bowl.

Serve the fried pickles hot with the dipping sauce.

Fried Tempura Pickles Recipe

Sriracha sauce

dill pickle slices ((a.k.a. hamburger slices, pickle chips))

Easy Tempura Batter, prepared according to directions

Prep. Prepare the Sriracha ranch dipping sauce by combining the Sriracha and the ranch dressing in a small bowl. Blend well then refrigerate the sauce until ready to serve.

Drain the pickle slices, reserving the liquid for future uses (for example, pickle juice is an easy and flavorful brine. It has been suggested that this is the secret to Chick-fil-A’s delicious fried chicken).

Fire up. Add 1 inch (25.4 mm) of oil to a heavy pot or cast-iron Dutch oven, place it on the grill, and preheat the oil to 375°F (190.6°C). This technique is referred to as grill frying and is a great way to avoid the smells and mess associated with deep-frying indoors.

Prep again. Once the oil is ready, drop the pickle slices in the easy tempura batter and stir until each pickle slice is fully coated.

 Cook. With tongs, pull the pickle slices out of the batter, allowing some of the excess batter drip off before gently slipping them into the oil. Try to cook pieces of similar thickness together so they are done at the same time. Do not crowd the pot or the oil temperature will drop too low and the pickles might stick together. Try to keep the oil temp between 325°F (162.8°C) and 350°F (176.7°C). Flip the battered pickle slices often and fry until the batter is golden brown, approximately 2 to 3 minutes per batch. When they are done, lift the pickle slices out of the oil with tongs or a spider strainer. Spread the deep fried pickle slices on paper towels to drain.

Serve. Plate the tempura battered pickles and serve immediately with the Sriracha ranch dipping sauce.

dill pickle slices (drained of juice/brine)

buttermilk

hot sauce

all-purpose flour

garlic powder

cayenne pepper

neutral flavor cooking oil ((peanut, vegetable, canola, etc))

Heat 2-inches of cooking oil in an 8-quart pot to 350°F. Prepare a tray with a double layer of paper towels. Set aside.

In a medium mixing bowl, combine buttermilk, egg, and hot sauce. Beat with a fork to combine. Add pickles to buttermilk mixture and stir to combine.

In a separate bowl, whisk together flour, paprika, garlic powder and cayenne pepper.

Add a handful of pickle slices to flour mixture. Swirl pickles around to be sure they are well coated. *See NotesShake off excess flour and drop 7 or 8 pickles, one at a time, into hot oil. Avoid frying more than that at one time, so the temperature does not drop too much.

Fry pickles for 3-5 minutes, or until golden brown. Remove from oil with a slotted spoon and drain on tray lined with paper towels.
