Apple Hand Pies

(240 grams) chopped apples

(50 grams) granulated sugar

Preheat the oven to 400°F (204°C). Line 1 to 2 large baking sheets with parchment paper or silicone baking mats and set aside.

On a lightly floured surface, roll the pie crusts to about 1/8-inch thick. Using a 3.5-inch cookie cutter (or cup) cut out as many circles from the pie crusts as you can, reroll any scrap pieces of dough as needed. You should get about 18 to 20 circles. Place the cut-out pie crust circles on the baking sheets and transfer to the refrigerator to chill while you make the filling. 

Combine the chopped apples, sugar, flour, vanilla extract, ground cinnamon, and ground nutmeg in a mixing bowl until fully combined and all of the apples are coated with the mixture.&nbsp;

In a separate bowl, whisk together the egg and milk until well combined. Set aside.

Remove the pie crust circles from the refrigerator and evenly distribute the apple pie filling between half of them, making sure to leave some room at the edges. Place 1 to 2 pieces of the cubed butter on top of the filling on each pie.

Place the other half of the pie crust circles on&nbsp;top (use some water or the egg wash to dampen the edges and help seal them together if needed) then crimp the edges with a fork.

Brush the top of each pie with the egg wash. Sprinkle with coarse sugar if desired, then cut 2 to 3 slits in the top of each pie.

Bake for 18 to 22 minutes or until the pies are golden brown and the filling is bubbling. Remove from the oven and set aside to cool slightly before serving.

This Easy Apple Pie makes a fabulous dessert for holidays, dinner parties and special occasions, but it can be thrown together quickly and with minimal effort. That makes it perfect for making an ordinary day quite extraordinary!

Annie's Easy Apple Pie

refrigerated pie crust (I like Pillsbury)

cooking spray or oil

butter

butter ((1 stick) (I use salted))

flour (maybe a bit more)

brown sugar (tightly packed)

cinnamon

Remove the pie crust from the refrigerator 15 minutes in advance.

Preheat the oven to 425˚F. Place a sheet pan lined with foil on the lower rack of the oven.

Spray a 9-inch pie pan lightly with cooking spray or lightly oil it. Place the butter in the pie pan and rub with a paper towel to coat the pan. Set aside.

Unroll the refrigerated pie crust on a work surface. Center the dough in a 9-inch pie pan without stretching it. Press it firmly against the sides and bottom of the pan to anchor the crust to the pan.

There should about a ½-inch extra crust that extends over the top of the pan. Starting at one area of the edge, tuck the crust under (towards the pan) about ¼-inch, working your way around the pan.

You now will have a lip or rim that extends ¼-inch above the top of the pan. This will not only look really pretty once it’s crimped, but it will also keep the filling of the pie from bubbling over the edge.

With your two index fingers, go around the pan pressing gently to even and straighten the lip (rim). (See this post for a picture tutorial on how to crimp a pie crust.)

Refrigerate the lined pie pan while you prepare the crumb topping and filling.

For the crust:

Place butter in a medium-size, microwave-safe bowl. Add the butter and microwave on high power for 40-50 seconds until the butter about ¾ melted.

Add the flour, brown sugar, cinnamon and salt to the partially melted butter and stir with a fork until large, wet crumbs form. If the mixture seems too wet to form crumbs, add 1-2 tablespoons of extra flour and stir with a fork until the wet crumbs form. Refrigerate while prepping the apples.

For the crumb topping:

Peel, core and slice the apples. (See the post for a picture tutorial on the easiest way to do this.)

Combine the sliced apples, flour, sugar and cinnamon in a large bowl. Toss lightly until everything is well-combined.

For the filling:

Remove the pie crust from the refrigerator. Add the apple filling, mounding the apples slightly in the center.

Using your hand, sprinkle the crumb topping over the apples, breaking up any really large crumbs with your fingers. Try to cover the entire top of the pie but keep the topping inside the crimped edges.

Place the pie on the preheated sheet pan on the lower rack of the oven. Immediately reduce the temperature to 375˚F. Bake for 40-45 minutes until the top is nicely browned. The apple filling should be bubbling a bit here and there through the crumb topping. Check the pie after 35 minutes and cover with foil if it seems to be getting too brown.

Allow the pie to cool for at least 45 minutes to an hour to allow the apple filling to “set”. Serve warm with a scoop of vanilla ice cream for a heavenly sweet treat!

my first time in 25 years to attempt apple pie. It was GREAT! The pie was devoured by my teenage boys and my husband. Glad to see such an easy recipe  yielded so much happiness! Thank you for making me look like a pie maker!!

Surprisingly easy to make.  To avoid the mess of making dough, I used frozen pie crusts and made the lattice by cutting strips from pre-made Pillsbury pie dough.  I added nutmeg and flour to the recipe for a richer taste and a thicker pie filling.

It's my first time to make an apple pie and it turned out great! my mother really liked it and now she wants me to make one for her friends! she said it was really yummy and the sweetness is just right!

This Homemade Apple Pie Is The Best Of The Classics

This is hands down the BEST and easiest apple pie recipe! It has a tender, flaky, homemade pie crust with apple slices drenched in sugar and warm spices like cinnamon and nutmeg.

Easy Apple Pie

(9") pie crusts

brown sugar (loosely packed)

lemon

sanding sugar (optional)

Start by preparing this flaky pie crust recipe which makes 2 (9&quot;) pie crusts, one for the bottom and one for the top of the pie. Or use a store-bought pie crust and follow package directions.

Place oven rack in the center position and Preheat the oven to 400°F.

In a large bowl, combine the sliced apples, granulated sugar, light brown sugar, flour, cinnamon,  nutmeg,  and the zest and juice of one lemon; toss to coat evenly.

Remove the pie crust dough from the fridge and let rest at room temperature for 5-10 minutes. On a lightly floured surface, roll one disc into a 12&quot; circle that is 1/8&quot; thick. Carefully lay the crust into the bottom of a deep dish pie plate.

Spoon the apple filling over the bottom crust and discard juices at the bottom of the bowl. Roll out the second disc of pie crust until it is 1/8&quot; thick and lay it over the apple filling.

Use a sharp knife to trim the dough along the outside edge of the pie plate. Lift the edges where the two pie crust meet, gently press to seal and fold them under. Rotate the pie plate and repeat this process until edges are neatly tucked under themselves. Cut 4 slits in the top of the dough to allow steam to vent. Place the pie on a baking sheet.

Brush the surface of the pie crust with the egg wash and sprinkle with sanding sugar. Cover the edges with a pie shield or a strip of foil to keep them from over browning during the first 25 minutes.

Bake at 400°F for 25 minutes. Carefully remove the pie shield, turn the oven down to 375° and continue to bake for an additional 30-35 minutes or until the top is golden brown and the juices are bubbly. Cool at room temperature for at least 3 hours.

Easy Apple Pie Recipe With Premade Crust

pre-made pie crusts (One box (2 crusts))

white sugar

brown sugar

tbsps. butter (cubed)

Preheat Oven

Line pie plate

Line the bottom of your pie plate with one crust. Be sure to spread it out and then gently pinch the edges to crimp; set aside.

Prepare apples

Peel, slice apples almost to the core, and then slice them in thin slices. You do not want them thick or too chunky because they will not bake properly.

Mix apples with ingredients

Add apple slices to a large mixing bowl and toss with flour, both sugars, cinnamon, nutmeg, and lemon juice; combine.

Fill crust

Carefully pour spiced apples over the bottom pie crust and spray them out evenly. They will look pretty high.

Add butter

Add butter cubes around the top layer of the pie.

Top crust

Unwrap the pie top crust and carefully cover the pie. Pinch pie edges to crimp and seal the pie.

Add egg wash

Brush on the mixed egg wash on all surfaces of the top pie. You will not use the whole egg.

Poke holes

Using a BBQ skewer, poke 4 holes in your pie center for venting. You can also make 4 slits with a knife.

Bake

Bake pie for 45 minutes with a pie shield to prevent the crust edges from over-browning.

Cool

Allow pie to cool for at least 3 hours before cutting into it. Do not cover the pie when warm or the crust will get soggy. Only cover it once the pie is 100% cooled.

This recipe for Easy Apple Pie is made with spiced roasted apples and pie crust cookies.  A quicker way to make pie with all the comforting flavors and a guaranteed flakey crispy crust.

Easy Apple "Pie" with Pie Crust Cookies

coconut sugar

tablespoons, 4 oz butter chilled, cut into

Mix together flour, salt and butter cubes

Put the entire bowl in the freezer for 5 minutes

Cut butter in with a pastry cutter, knifes or hands leaving course pea sized pieces.

Add half of the ice water.  You may not need all the water, start by adding half, sprinkling over the dough.  Mix in gently with a fork.  The dough will look crumbly.  Test the dough by squeezing together with your fingers, if it sticks together that&#8217;s perfect.  If still crumbly, add a few more teaspoons of water lightly toss and test again.

Once dough comes together, pat out into a rough square.  Refrigerate for 30 minutes (and up to 2 days).  Meanwhile, start on the apples.

Mix cut apples, lemon juice, sugar, cinnamon, ginger and cloves.

Place apples on a baking sheet and dot with butter.

Bake at 425 for 15- 20 minutes.  If you like a softer apple go the full 20 minutes or more.  If you prefer a little texture, test at 15 minutes.

Roll out dough to 1/4 inch thickness on a floured sheet of parchment.  Place whole parchment on the sheet pan.

Brush with egg wash (optional) and sprinkle with cinnamon sugar mixture.  Cut with a scoring wheel and bake at 350 for 20 minutes or until crusts are lightly brown on the bottom.

I made this for dessert last night though prepped dough a day earlier.  It was so easy to make and totally delicious ... great recipe which also looks attractive on the plate ... thank you !

Apple Crumb Cheesecake Pie

tbsp (84 grams) packed brown sugar

tbsp (78 grams) sugar

cornstarch

Refrigerated pie crust

oz cream cheese, room temperature

Apple Pie Filling, above

(33 grams) all purpose flour

(22 grams) quick cooking oats

(56 grams) packed brown sugar

tsp cinnamon

tbsp unsalted butter, melted

Vanilla Ice Cream, for serving, optional

Caramel Topping,

Drizzle the lemon juice over the apples and toss to coat. Set the apples aside.

2. Stir together the sugars, cornstarch, cinnamon, nutmeg and salt in a large saucepan. Whisk in the water until everything has dissolved.

3. Bring the mixture to a boil over medium-high heat. Reduce the heat slightly and simmer for 2 minutes.

4. Add the apples and increase the heat to medium-high heat to bring the mixture to a full boil again. Reduce the heat to low heat and simmer, stirring occasionally, for 10-12 minutes. Remove the pan from the heat and let the mixture cool.

5. Refrigerate the filling in an airtight container for 4-6 hours to thicken. Store in the refrigerate for up to 2 weeks.
TO MAKE THE PIE:

Preheat the oven to 375°F. Spray a 9-inch deep dish pie plate with non-stick baking spray.

7. Place the pie crust in the pie plate. Fold the edges of the crust under and mold them to your preference. Refrigerate until ready to use.

8. To make the cheesecake layer, beat the cream cheese until creamy.

9. Add the sugar and beat the mixture until smooth.

10. Add the egg and beat until full incorporated. Do not overbeat the batter.

11. Spread the cheesecake batter in the prepared pie crust.

12. Gently spoon the apple pie filling on top of the cheesecake batter.

13. For the crumb topping, mix together the crumb topping ingredients. Sprinkle the mixture evenly over the apple pie filling.

14. Bake the cheesecake pie for 40 minutes.

15. Remove the pie plate from the oven and place it on a wire rack. Let the cheesecake pie cool for 1 hour, then refrigerate for 2-3 hours, until completely chilled.

16. Serve with vanilla ice cream and caramel topping, if desired.

Amaaazing recipe, only thing is I end up with a way way too much of the apple filling but nothing enough to halve the recipe so I’m still trying to troubleshoot that.

I made this pie for thanksgiving and it was a huge hit. I used a graham crack crust and doubled the cream cheese filling. Added a splash of vanilla to the filling as well. The mixture didn’t seem thick enough to hold the apple filling and I had time, so I poured the mixture over the baked crust and refrigerated it over night. Added the filling and crumb top the next morning and baked for 40 mins. It came out perfect. I served it a la mode but next time I will opt for homemade whipped cream.

The perfect dessert when you're craving pie but are short on time and energy! Mix up a simple batter and fill the center with homemade apple pie filling. As it bakes, the batter turns into a crust in the oven!

Crazy Crust Apple Pie

apples (about 3/4 inch thick slices)

unsalted butter

unsalted butter, softened

egg, room temperature

baking powder

water (can substitute milk)

Heat the 2 tbsp. butter over medium heat in a large skillet. Once melted, add the peeled, sliced apples, brown sugar, cinnamon and pinch salt. Cook for 3 - 4 minutes, stirring frequently, or until the brown sugar is fully dissolved and the apples have released some moisture.

Sprinkle 1 tbsp. of flour over the top of the apples and stir to evenly combine the flour with the apple filling. Cook, stirring frequently, for an additional 1 - 2 minutes, or until the apple pie filling has thickened. Turn the heat down if necessary to avoid the sugar burning.

If the filling is still watery, add up to an additional 1 tbsp. of flour and cook for an additional minute, stirring frequently. (Mine took about 1 and 3/4 tbsp. to properly thicken - for a visual reference of what the thickness of filling should look like, see the photo in the blog post.)

Make the apple pie filling

Add the 10 tbsp. of softened butter, 2 tbsp. brown sugar and 2 tbsp. granulated sugar to a large bowl or the bowl of a stand mixer. Beat with hand beaters or the whip attachment of a stand mixer on medium speed until evenly combined and slightly fluffy, about 1 minute.

Add the egg and beat again until the mixture is smooth, about 30 seconds.

Add the flour, baking powder and salt. Beat on low speed just for a few seconds to moisten the flour, then on medium speed until the flour is fully combined and the mixture is smooth, about 1 minute. 

While continuing to beat the mixture on medium speed, drizzle the water slowly into the batter and mix until smooth, about 1 minute.

Make the crust batter

Pour the batter into a greased 9 inch pie dish, making sure to spread the filling all the way out to the edges. Carefully spoon the apple pie filling into the center of the batter. If the fruit is mounded, gently smooth out the top, but do not stir. Leave 1 inch of batter around the edge of the dish (this is what will form the crust).

Bake in the preheated oven for 35 - 40 minutes, or until the crust is deep golden brown (see note).
