There’s a reason I’ve been making this easy tuna salad week after week for years. It’s healthy and delicious and made with the simplest of salad ingredients that you’ve probably nearly always got in your fridge. Try it – I don’t think you’ll be disappointed!

Our favourite easy tuna salad

lettuce (or similar fresh green leaves)

tuna

tomatoes (chopped)

cucumber (sliced)

beetroot ((canned

cheese

avocado

carrot (grated or finely sliced (optional))

onion ((raw))

walnuts (crushed)

extra virgin olive oil

balsamic glaze

bread salt

mayonnaise

Start by placing the fresh green leaves in the bottom of 2 big wide bowls.

Divide the tuna between the 2 bowls, then add all the other ingredients (apart from the walnuts and onions) next to each other in little piles.

Scatter the onion over the tuna and the walnuts over all the ingredients in the bowls.

Drizzle over the olive oil and balsamic glaze.

Serve with the toasted bread and mayonnaise (if you like).

Think tuna is boring? This Kicking Low FODMAP Cajun Tuna Salad is spicy, but not too spicy, simple to make and can be served as a salad, a sandwich or turned into cooked patties.

Kicking Low FODMAP Cajun Tuna Salad

carrot,

½ finely chopped green bell pepper

(56 g) mayonnaise

Casa de Santé Cajun/Creole Seasoning

rice wine vinegar

Low FODMAP sliced bread

Lettuce and tomato, (optional)

Open one can of light chunk tuna and drain very well. Empty tuna into a mixing bowl.

Grate the carrot and then use a paper towel, cheesecloth or linen towel to squeeze out the excess liquid. Keep squeezing until dry. Add carrots to tuna; discard or drink the juice!

Add the green pepper, mayonnaise, seasoning and vinegar and mix everything together well. Make sandwiches or serve as a salad and enjoy! You can also refrigerate in an airtight container for up to 2 days. See Tips below for a way to turn your tuna mixture into cooked, crispy tuna patties.

Tuna Salad

(5-ounces each) tuna

avocados

cucumber

red onion (thinly sliced)

parsley

olive oil

lemon

salt and black pepper (to taste)

Place prepped tuna into a large salad bowl.

Add in diced avocado, cucumber slices, sliced onions, and parsley or cilantro. Set aside.

In a small mixing bowl combine olive oil, lemon juice, salt, and pepper; whisk to combine.

Taste for seasonings and adjust accordingly. I almost always add more lemon and salt.

Add salad dressing to the salad; toss to combine. If time permits, chill the salad in the fridge for 15 to 30 minutes before serving.

I made this for a family get together and now I'm here sending the recipe to my sister in law because they loved it so much. With the leftovers, I added feta cheese crumbles and turned it into a Greek salad! So good!

This was such a light a flavorful salad; definitely worthy of a restaurant! Looking forward to enjoying this again, tomorrow!

Combine the tuna fish, mayonnaise, and dried onion flakes in a small bowl.

Serve with lettuce for keto, or on bread or toast if not.

I've been using dried onion flakes for tuna salad. It gives great flavor. And apart from that, it is good for the health especially if you are diabetic.

I love tuna salad.....a can of tuna is always in my pantry for emergencies (read:  too tired to cook).  My favorite zero carb addition is to add between 1/2 tsp or so of dried dill weed to it.....really adds a bright note to all the creaminess.  Fresh dill is obviously even better if you have it.  Toss in a few capers if you are feeling  zingy.

Dijon mustard (Maille recommended)

½ cup small diced apple, unpeeled

celery

sweet pickle relish

red onion

lemon juice

dill fronds

Prepare Tuna

Add the drained tuna to a large mixing bowl and break it up lightly using a fork to ensure a flaky texture.

Mix Ingredients

Add mayonnaise, Dijon mustard, diced apple, celery, sweet pickle relish, finely chopped red onion, lemon juice, and dill to the tuna. Gently fold the ingredients together with a rubber spatula or wooden spoon until everything is well combined.

Season to Taste

Taste the tuna salad and adjust seasoning by adding more salt, pepper, lemon juice, or mayonnaise as needed to balance the flavors.

Chill for Best Flavor

Serve immediately or for enhanced flavor, cover the salad and refrigerate for 30 to 60 minutes before serving.
